Joanes da Silva Rocha
Joanes Rocha (ホッシャ・ジョアネス, 喬耐斯) is currently a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Tokyo, Japan, Visiting Scholar at Academia Sinica, Institute of History and Philology (Taipei) and an associate researcher at the Center for Asian Studies at the University of Brasilia (NEASIA-UnB). Assistant Professor of Theory and History of Architecture and member of the ICOMOS-UNESCO (International Council on Monuments and Sites). Author of different works and articles on East Asia in the fields of social sciences and humanities that cover topics such as language, culture, history, architecture, and art. His main research deals with the Portuguese presence in East Asia (Japan, China and Macao) between the sixteenth and nineteenth centuries and its Heritage safeguard.
