Elisa Melo Franco Santos

Elisa has a MA in Gender and Women's Studies by the University of Lodz (Poland, 2020), and a MA in Modern, Post-colonial and Comparative Literatures by the University of Bologna (Italy, 2020). Her research is located at the intersections between gender studies (mainly queer theories), literature, and edition studies. Her master thesis, "How Many Colors can Fit in the Rainbow? Queerness in Children's Books", brings forward a comparative queer reading of picturebooks "Flicts" (Ziraldo, Brazil, 1969) and "Red: A Crayon's Story" (Michael Hall, US, 2015), with special attention to the historic, cultural and political context of the works, as well as to their visual, material and literary construction. Elisa has received a scholarship from the University of Bologna to conduct her PhD studies in Modern Languages, Literatures and Culture: Diversity and Inclusion. Her current research investigates the relations between dictatorial politics and editorial policies during the military dictatorships in Argentina (1976-1983) and Brazil (1964-1985), with focus on picturebooks.

Elisa é mestre em Estudos de Gênero e da Mulher pela University of Lodz (Polônia, 2020) e em Literaturas Modernas, Comparadas e Pós-coloniais pela Università di Bologna (Itália, 2020). Sua pesquisa se concentra nas interseções entre estudos de gênero (em especial teorias queer), literatura, edição. Sua dissertação de mestrado, intitulada "How Many Colors Can Fit in the Rainbow? Queerness in Children's Books", apresenta uma leitura comparada e queer dos livros ilustrados "Flicts" (Ziraldo, 1969) e "Red: A Crayon's Story" (Michael Hall, 2015), com especial atenção para o contexto histórico, cultural e político das obras, e para a sua construção visual, material e literária. Elisa é estudante bolsista no primeiro ano do doutorado em Línguas, Literaturas e Culturas Modernas: Diversidade e Inclusão, pela Università di Bologna (Itália), onde desenvolve uma pesquisa sobre a relação entre políticas ditatoriais e políticas editoriais durante as ditaduras militares na Argentina (1976-1983) e no Brasil (1964-1985), com foco em livros ilustrados.
