Susana Gonçalves Costa Amaral

Susana Costa Amaral is a cross disciplinary researcher from Brazil working at the intersections of politics, performance and critical theory. Currently, she is a Doctoral Candidate at New York University and her research focuses oncontemporary art, anti-colonial studies, feminist and queer theory in Latin America. She holds an MA in Performing Arts from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, same institution where she completed her BA in Social Communication with emphasis on Film. Originally from Rio de Janeiro, Susana lives and works in New York since 2018.

Susana Costa Amaral é pesquisadora interdisciplinar, mestre em Artes da Cena pela UFRJ e bacharel em Comunicação Social pela mesma instituição. Vive e trabalha entre Rio de Janeiro e Nova York, onde é doutoranda e leciona pela NYU. Atua nas interseções entre performance e política, arte e contemporaneidade, com foco em perspectivas minoritárias e desobedientes como o feminismo e a crítica racial queer. Sua prática artística e teórica atravessa a pergunta pelo corpo e suas alianças éticas e estéticas.
