Fernando López Ortiz

F. López Ortiz was born in Avilés, North of Spain. He graduated from the University of Oviedo in 1980 and received a Ph. D. degree (1987) working on organic synthesis via alfa-lithiated phosphazenes under the supervision of J. Barluenga and F. Palacios. From 1987 to 1989 he was a postdoctoral Humboldt fellow (FRG), firstly (1987-88) at the University of Siegen with H. Günther undertaking research on NMR of organolithium compounds in solution, secondly (1988-89) at the Max Planck Institute für Kohlenforschung (Mülheim a.d. Ruhr) with R. Benn for investigating on 187Os-NMR. In November 1989 he became Profesor Titular at the University of Oviedo, where he started his own research. He moved to the University of Almería (1996), where he is Professor of Organic Chemistry. Hisresearch interest is in asymmetric synthesis. He develops new methodologies based on directed metallations for introducing chirality at the phosphorus center as an entry to multifunctional materials. The applications concentrate on properties such as catalysis, molecular magnetism and conductivity of P-chirogenic systems coordinated to metals of the d and f blocks. Also central to his work are the multinuclear magnetic resonance studies of the reaction mechanisms- See more at:http://orcid.org/0000-0003-1786-0157.http://www.researcherid.com/rid/L-3540-2014https://sites.google.com/site/flopezortizgroup/
doctorate at Química from Universidad de Oviedo (1987). Has experience in Chemistry, focusing on Organic Synthesis, acting on the following subjects: ortho-lithiation, phosphinic amide, hrmas, phosphazenes and multinuclear magnetic resonance.
