Leila Rodrigues de Mendonça Vieira

Bacharel em Ciências Biológicas pela Universidade Federal de Alagoas (UFAL, 2012). Mestre em Biologia Celular e Molecular pela Universidade de São Paulo (FMRP-USP, 2014). Doutora em imunopatogênese de doenças infecciosas pelo Instituto Aggeu Magalhães - Fundação Oswaldo Cruz (IAM/FIOCRUZ, 2019), com doutorado sanduíche em Yale University (EUA) pelo Programa de Doutorado Sanduíche no Exterior (PDSE CAPES 2018-2019). Trabalhou como Pesquisadora Visitante na London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM, 2020-2021). Tem experiência em estudos experimentais e clínicos sobre arboviroses endêmicas do Brasil, com foco em infecções virais neurológicas. Atualmente é Consultora Médico-Científica (MSL) na empresa Janssen-Cilag Farmacêutica na área de Neurociências.

Dr. Leila Mendonça has research experience on the cell biology and immunopathogenesis of arboviruses of great epidemiological importance in Brazil, such as Zika virus and Oropouche virus. During her Master?s and Ph.D studies, she explored the pathogenesis of arboviral infections and cell defense strategies against viral infections in the CNS. She developed part of her Ph.D research at Yale University with the aim to tackle the role of stress response pathways in triggering neuronal cell death, and worked as Visiting Researcher at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) on the long-term sequelae of prenatal ZIKV exposure. She is currently Medical Science Liaison (MSL) in Neuroscience at Janssen-Cilag Pharmaceutical Company in Brazil.
