Arnaldo José Perin

Arnaldo Jose Perin (M'86) received the B.E. degree in electronic engineering from the Pontificia Universidade Catolica do Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil in 1977, the M. Sc. degree in electrical engineering from Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC), Florianopolis, SC, Brazil in 1980. In 1984 he received the Doctor of Engineering degree (Dr. Ing.) from the Institut National Polytechnique de Toulouse (INPT), Toulouse, France. He joined the Electrical Engineering Department at UFSC in 1980 where he was engaged in education and research on power electronics until 2009. After that he assumed a volunteer professorship with the Electrical Engineering Graduation Program at the UFSC. Research interests include power electronics, modulation, ac converters and power factor correction. Mr. Perin is currently a member of the Brazilian Power Electronics Society (SOBRAEP) and of the IEEE.

Possui graduação em Engenharia Eletrônica pela Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul (1977), mestrado em Engenharia Elétrica pela Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (1980) e doutorado em Genie Electrique - Institut National Polytechnique de Toulouse (1984). Atualmente é professor titular aposentado, atuando como Professor Voluntário na Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina. Tem atuado como revisor das revistas IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, IET Power Electronics e Eletrônica de Potência. Tem experiência na área de Engenharia Elétrica, com ênfase em Eletrônica de Potência, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: eletronica de potencia, correção do fator de potência, conversores multiníveis, inversores, modulação, comutação suave e sistemas de iluminação. É sócio fundador e faz parte do Conselho Deliberativo da SOBRAEP.
