B.Sc. (Geology) from Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (1987), M.Sc. (Geology/Rock Mechanics)) from Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (1992) and D.Sc. (Geology/Rock Mechanics) from Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (1998). It is senior lecturer of the following disciplines: Geology for Engineers and Introduction to Rock Mechanics (Undergrad courses) and Engineering Geology, Rock Mechanics, and more than three hundred consultancy technical reports. Has received 1 International and 1 Brazilian award. Eduardo has advised or co-advised more than one hundred PhD Thesis and MSc Dissertations. He has been Head of Civil Engineering Department (for 4 years) and the Postgrad Civil Engineering Program Coordinator (UFV) for 6 years. It is member of Brazilian Engineering Geology and The Environment Society (ABGE), Portuguese Geotechnical Society (SPG), Australian Geomechanics Society (AGS), International Society of Engineering Geology and The Environment (IAEG) and of International Society for Rock Mechanics (ISRM). It is member of revision board of Soil Rocks, Engineering Geology and Geotecnia (Portugal) journals. Has experience in Engineering Geology and Civil Engineering (Rock Mechanics), Geological-Geotechnical Cartography, Slope Stability Analysis, Open Pit ad Underground Mining Projects, Hydrogeology and Environmental Engineering (monitoring).
Eduardo Antonio Gomes Marques concluiu o doutorado em Geologia pela Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro em 199c. Atualmente é Professor Titular da Universidade Federal de Viçosa. Publicou vários artigos em periódicos internacionais. Possui livros e Capítulos de Livro publicados no Brasil e no exterior. Orientou mais de 100 estudantes de mestrado e doutorado nas áreas de Engenharia Civil, Geologia, Geografia, Engenharia Ambiental e Engenharia de Minas. Supervisionou 2 Pós-Doutorados. Foi Chefe do Departamento de Engenharia Civil da Universidade Federal de Viçosa (UFV) e Coordenador do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Engenharia Civil da mesma universidade. É revisor das Revistas Soil Rocks, Engineering Geology, Bulletin of Engineering Geology and the Environment, Engineering Geology, Journal of Geological Resource and Engineering e Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering. É membro da Associação Brasileira de Geologia de Engenharia e Ambiental (ABGE), da International Association on Engineering Geology and The Environment (IAEG), da International Society for Rock Mechanics (ISRM) e da Sociedade Portuguesa de Geotecnia (SPG). Atua na área de Geologia de Engenharia e Geotecnia, com ênfase em Geologia de Engenharia, Mecânicas das Rochas, Cartografia Geotécnica, Estabilidade de Taludes, Hidrogeologia e Meio Ambiente.
