George Machado Junior graduated in Physics from University of Minho, Portugal (2007). During his studies, George Jr. worked in Biophysics on the encapsulation of DNA by liposome cationic and water treatment. He has a master degree in Physics from University of Minho (2011) and in his thesis he worked on growth and characterization of thin film silicon solar cells by Hot Wire and Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition. Since his graduation, George Jr. has been an electrical-mechanical engineering lecturer at the University Estacio de Sá, Brazil, and, more recently, a Ph.D. student at the University of Minho. He works on his Ph.D thesis at the International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory (INL) in Braga, on the topic of graphene growth, transfer and device fabrication by optical and e-beam lithography for application in biosensors. Junior has a scholarship from CNPQ ? Conselho Nacional de Pesquisa, Brasilia, Brazil.
