Jean Marcel Ribeiro Gallo

Jean Marcel R. Gallo is Professor of Inorganic Chemistry at the Department of Chemistry at the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar) since 2014, where he leads the Group of Renewable Energy, Nanotechnology and Catalysis (GreenCat). The group research interests lie in the design of heterogeneous catalysts for the application in the biomass conversion. The emphasis of the group is controlling the catalyst site types at an atomic level, as well as the structure at the nanometric scale aiming tackling relevant problems associated to the refinery and the biorefinery. Prof. Gallo was born in São Paulo city, raised in Campinas and studied Chemistry at the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP), where he also obtained the Master?s degree in Chemistry under the supervision of Prof. Ulf Schuchardt. His PhD in Science was obtained in a Cotutelle program between UNICAMP and the University of the Eastern Piedmont ?Amedeo Avogadro? in Alessandria (Italy), under the supervision of Prof. Heloise O. Pastore and Prof. Leonardo Marchese. Prof. Gallo was also a Research Associate in Prof. James A. Dumesic Group in the Department of Chemical & Biological Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (USA) between 2010 and 2013, and a posdoc fellow in Prof. José Maria C. Bueno group in the Department of Chemical at UFSCar.

Jean Marcel R. Gallo é Professor de Química Inorgânica no Departamento de Química da Universidade Federal de São Carlos (UFSCar) desde 2014, onde lidera o o Group of Renewable Energy, Nanotechnology and Catalysis (GreenCat). O grupo de pesquisa tem como interesse o desenvolvimento de catalisadores heterogêneos para aplicação na conversão de biomassa. O enfoque do grupo é no controle dos sítios catalíticos em uma escala atômica, assim como do controle da estrutura em escala nanométrica, com o objetivo de criar soluções para problemas relevantes no contexto da refinaria e da biorrefinaria. O Prof. Jean nasceu em São Paulo, cresceu em Campinas e estudou Química na Universidade Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP), onde também obteve o Mestrado em Química sob orientação do Prof. Ulf Schuchardt. Seu título de Doutorado em Ciências foi obtido em um programa de cotutela entre a UNICAMP e a University of the Eastern Piedmont ?Amedeo Avogadro? in Alessandria (Italia), sob a orientação da Prof. Heloise O. Pastore e do Prof. Leonardo Marchese. O Prof. Jean também foi Pesquisador Associado no grupo do Prof. James A. Dumesic no Departamento de Engenharia Química da University of Wisconsin-Madison (USA) ente 2010 e 2013, e foi pós-doutorando no grupo do Prof. José Maria C. Bueno no Departamento de Engenharia Química da UFSCar.
