Guilherme Mattos de Abreu

Born in 1952, in Rio de Janeiro-RJ, bachelor in Naval Sciences from the Naval Academy (1974); he holds a Professional Doctorate in Naval Sciences from the Naval War College. He holds a Master's degree in International Security and Defense, from the Brazilian National War College (ESG). He spent most of his career in the Active Service of the Navy - over more than thirty years - in the exercise of the typical functions of the Naval Officers, on board ships or in the Commandos of the Naval Forces; or in academic activities, as a student or teacher, in Brazil and abroad. He was Commanding Officer of the Naval Preparatory School, Director of the Course of High Studies in Policies and Strategy (CAEPE) of the Brazillian National War College (ESG), Dean of the Naval Academy and Advisor of the Inter-American Defense College, in Washington - DC. In addition to the numerous courses inherent to the naval career, he has, among others, the following: "History of the Military Operations in Latin America", by the Industrial College of Armed Forces (nowadays, Dwight D. Eisenhower School for National Security and Resource Strategy) of the National Defense University (Washington DC, USA); MBA in Planning and Strategic Management and MBA in Project Management, from Getúlio Vargas Foundation (RJ); the Continental Defense Course, of the Inter-American Defense College (Washington-DC, USA); Course of High Studies in Policies and Strategy (CAEPE), of the Superior School of War (ESG). Currently, he is a member of the Institute of Geography and Military History of Brazil (IGHMB), where he holds the chair number 93; associate researcher at the Army Military History Studies and Research Center (CPHiMEx); and collaborator of the Center for Policy and Strategy Studies of the Navy (CEPE-MB); dedicating himself to studies in the area of Defense, Strategy and International Relations. 
 He is director of the Center for Strategic Studies Marshal Cordeiro de Farias, of the Brazilian National War College (ESG).

Nascido em 1952, no Rio de Janeiro-RJ, é graduado em Ciências Navais pela Escola Naval (1974); possui o Doutorado Profissional em Ciências Navais, pela Escola de Guerra Naval, conforme dispõe a lei que regula o Ensino na Marinha do .Brasil. É Mestre em Segurança Internacional e Defesa, pela Escola Superior de Guerra. Passou a maior parte de sua carreira no Serviço Ativo da Marinha - ao longo de mais de trinta anos -, no exercício das funções típicas dos Oficiais do Corpo da Armada, em navios e nos Comandos de Forças Navais; ou no exercício de funções de ensino, como aluno ou instrutor, no Brasil e no exterior. Foi Encarregado do Curso de Aperfeiçoamento de Comunicações para Oficiais, Comandante do Colégio Naval, Diretor do Curso de Altos Estudos de Política e Estratégia (CAEPE) da Escola Superior de Guerra (ESG), Superintendente de Ensino da Escola Naval e Assessor do Colégio Interamericano de Defesa, em Washington DC. Além dos inúmeros cursos inerentes à carreira naval, possui, entre outros, os seguintes: History of the Military Operations in Latin America, pelo Industrial College of Armed Forces (atualmente Dwight D. Atualmente, é membro do Instituto de Geografia e História Militar do Brasil (IGHMB), onde ocupa a cadeira de número 93; pesquisador associado do Centro de Estudos e Pesquisas de História Militar do Exército (CPHiMEx); e colaborador do Centro de Estudos de Política e Estratégia da Marinha (CEPE-MB); dedicando-se aos estudos na área de Defesa, de Estratégia e de Relações Internacionais. 
É o Diretor do Centro de Estudos Estratégicos Marechal Cordeiro de Farias, da Escola Superior de Guerra.
