ALEXANDER BIRBRAIR

Affiliated Member of Brazilian Academy of Sciences. Alexander is a professor at the Pathology Department of the Biological Sciences Institute of the Federal University of Minas Gerais. He holds a bachelor's degree in Biomedicine from the Santa Cruz State University (UESC) (2005-2009), a PhD in Neuroscience from Wake Forest University, North Carolina, United States (2010-2014) and a postdoc in Cell Biology from the Albert Einstein School of Medicine in New York, United States (2014-2016). Has experience in the area of ​​Biology and Molecular Genetics, Pharmacology, Physiology, Pathology, Biotechnology and Cell Biology. He is editor of Stem Cell Reviews & Reports, Molecular Biotechnology and Histology and Histopathology. Currently the key word in the laboratory is tissue microenvironment. We try to unravel the function of each cellular component in the tissues under various physiological and pathological conditions.

Membro Afiliado da Academia Brasileira de Ciências e da TWAS (The World Academy of Sciences). Membro da Global Young Academy. É professor adjunto do Departamento de Patologia do Instituto de Ciências Biológicas da Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais. Possui graduação em Biomedicina pela Universidade Estadual de Santa Cruz (UESC) (2005-2009), doutorado em Neurociência pela Wake Forest University, Carolina do Norte, Estados Unidos (2010-2014) e pós-doutorado em Biologia Celular no Albert Einstein School of Medicine em Nova York, Estados Unidos (2014-2016). Tem experiência na área de Biologia e Genética Molecular, Farmacologia, Fisiologia, Patologia, Biotecnologia e Biologia Celular. É editor chefe da Current Tissue Microenvrionment Reports, assim como membro do editorial board da Stem Cell Research, Stem Cell Reviews & Reports, Stem Cells and Developemnt, Molecular Biotechnology e Histology and Histopathology. Atualmente, a palavra-chave no meu laboratório é microambiente tecidual. Tentamos desvendar a função de cada componente celular nos tecidos sob várias condições fisiológicas e patológicas.
