Thauan dos Santos

Assistant professor of the Graduate Program in Maritime Studies at the Brazilian Naval War College (PPGEM/EGN) and coordinator of the Blue Economy Group (GEM), the first and only research group on the subject in Brazil. He is a visiting researcher doing post-doc at the Center for the Blue Economy, Middlebury Institute of International Studies (CBE/MIIS), California (USA), and holds a PhD in Energy Planning (Production Engineering) from the Alberto Luiz Coimbra Institute of Graduate Studies and Engineering Research (PPE/COPPE/UFRJ), MA in International Relations (IRI/PUC-Rio) and BA in Economics (IE/UFRJ) with Erasmus Mundus exchange at the Faculty of Economics, University of Porto (FEP/UP), Porto (Portugal). He is a researcher at the Consejo Latino-Americano de Ciencias Sociales (CLACSO) and was a professor at the Institute of International Relations at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (IRI/PUC-Rio), at the postgraduate course in International Relations at Damásio Educacional (Clio), at the Department of Defense and International Strategic Management at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (DGEI/UFRJ) and at the School of Economics at the Rio de Janeiro State University (FCE/UERJ). He has a special interest in the area of International Political Economy, in the topics of blue economy, ocean governance, defense economics, energy, sustainable development, and regional integration, with a particular focus on Latin American countries. He also researches the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), having participated as a guest and speaker in different events and occasions at the United Nations (UN).

Professor Adjunto do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Estudos Marítimos da Escola de Guerra Naval (PPGEM/EGN) e coordenador do Grupo Economia do Mar (GEM), primeiro e único grupo de pesquisa no tema do Brasil. É visiting researcher realizando estágio pós-doutoral no Center for the Blue Economy, Middlebury Institute of International Studies (CBE/MIIS), Califórnia (EUA), sendo doutor em Planejamento Energético (Engenharia de Produção) pelo Instituto Alberto Luiz Coimbra de Pós-Graduação e Pesquisa de Engenharia (PPE/COPPE/UFRJ), mestre em Relações Internacionais (IRI/PUC-Rio) e bacharel em Ciências Econômicas (IE/UFRJ) com intercâmbio Erasmus Mundus na Faculdade de Economia da Universidade do Porto (FEP/UP), Porto (Portugal). É pesquisador do Consejo Latino-Americano de Ciencias Sociales (CLACSO) e foi professor do Instituto de Relações Internacionais da Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro (IRI/PUC-Rio), da pós-graduação em Relações Internacionais da Damásio Educacional (Clio), do Departamento de Defesa e Gestão Estratégica Internacional da Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (DGEI/UFRJ) e da Faculdade de Economia da Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (FCE/UERJ). Apresenta especial interesse pela área de Economia Política Internacional, nos temas de Economia Azul, Governança do Oceano, Economia de Defesa, Energia, Desenvolvimento Sustentável e Integração Regional, com particular foco sobre os países da América Latina. Também pesquisa os Objetivos do Desenvolvimento Sustentável (ODS), tendo participado como convidado e speaker em diferentes eventos e ocasiões na Organização das Nações Unidas (ONU).
