Euripedes Constantino Miguel é Professor Titular, Chefe do Departamento de Psiquiatria da Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de São Paulo (FMUSP) e Professor Associado Adjunto do Child Study Center da Yale Medical School da Yale University. No período de 2009 a 2019 foi Professor Associado Adjunto do Departamento de Psiquiatria Ciências do Comportamento da Duke University e Consultor de Pesquisa do Massachusts General Hospital da Universidade de Harvard (2009 ? 2014). Desde 1994, lidera projetos de pesquisa na área de transtorno obsessivo compulsivo (TOC). Foi o fundador e coordenador do Programa de Transtornos do Espectro Obsessivo-Compulsivo (PROTOC) em sua Instituição (1994-2009). Desde 2003, é Coordenador do Consórcio Brasileiro de Pesquisas do Transtornos do Espectro Obsessivo-Compulsivo (C-TOC), que inclui as mais importantes universidades do país. Contribui e participa de vários consórcios internacionais (Grupo de Trabalho ENIGMA-OCD, Consórcio de Imagem do Cérebro TOC ? OBIC e Projeto Colaborativo Internacional de Genética da OCD Foundation). Tendo como foco o TOC, coordenou três Projetos Temáticos patrocinados pela FAPESP e, é, no momento, um dos Pesquisadores Principais de um projeto oriundo do Instituto de Saúde Americano (NIH) (com colaboradores dos Estados Unidos, Índia, África do Sul e Holanda) com o título ?Identifying Reproducible Brain Signatures of Obsessive-Compulsive Profiles?. Desde 2009, é o responsável pela Disciplina de Psiquiatra da Infância e Adolescência em seu Departamento. Nesta nova fase iniciou diversas linhas de pesquisa que culminaram com a criação, em 2009, do Instituto Nacional de Ciência e Tecnologia de Psiquiatria do Desenvolvimento para Crianças e Adolescentes (INPD) (www.inpd.org.br) com apoio do CNPq e da FAPESP, o qual coordena desde então. O INPD tem como missão implementar um programa que articula geração de ciência e tecnologia, desenvolvimento de recursos humanos e transferência de conhecimento para a sociedade na área de saúde mental infantil. Dois grandes projetos compõem sua plataforma de pesquisa atual. O Programa Primeiros Laços é uma intervenção baseada num programa de visitação domiciliar por enfermeiros com mães adolescentes e seus filhos em condições adversas. Este projeto recebeu o Prêmio Abril/DASA de Medicina Social em 2018. O segundo, a Coorte de Alto Risco (Projeto Conexão), é um estudo de neurociência populacional que utiliza um desenho de coorte acelerado para mapear o desenvolvimento de 2.500 crianças. Este projeto procura caracterizar as trajetórias de neurodesenvolvimento associadas aos transtornos mentais. Entre 1997 e 2007 foi um dos editores da Revista Brasileira de Psiquiatria (Brazilian Journal of Psychiatry) e desde então é Editor Emérito. Hoje é membro do American College of Neuropsychopharmacology, da Society of Biological Psychiatry e da Associação Brasileira de Psiquiatria. Supervisionou mais de 60 alunos (desde o nível de graduação até o pós-doutorado). Editou 14 livros. Um deles, o Tratado de Clínica Psiquiátrica, recebeu o prêmio Jabuti em 2011. Eurípedes Constantino Miguel, is Full Professor and Head of the Department of Psychiatry at the Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de São Paulo (FMUSP, University of São Paulo School of Medicine). He is also an Adjunct Associate Professor at the Yale University School of Medicine Child Study Center and in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Duke University. Since 1994, he has been leading research projects in Brazil in the area of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). He was the founder and coordinator of the Obsessive-Compulsive Spectrum Disorders (OCD) Program in his Institution (1994-2009). Since 2003, he has been the Coordinator of the OCD Brazilian Research Consortium across the most important Brazilian universities in the OCD field. The Consortium has collected 1001 OCD cases, phenotypically very well described, and has generated numerous publications. He is a member of the ENIGMA-OCD Working Group, the OCD Brain Imaging Consortium (OBIC), and the International OCD Foundation Genetics Collaborative. He was granted for three times with OCD Program Grant (Projeto Tematico), sponsored by FAPESP (an important Brazilian Research Agency) and recently by NIMH in a global research network grant focused on OCD and related disorders (additional research teams involve collaborators from US-Columbia, India, South Africa and Holland). Since 2009, Dr. Miguel is also Chair of the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in his Institution. Thus, in the last 9 years, he has started several new lines of research that have culminated with the foundation of the National Institute for Development Psychiatry (www.inpd.org.br), a research organisation focused on developing new methods to identify individuals at risk for mental disorders and testing interventions to prevent or attenuate their expression. Another relevant initiative of this Institute, is the investigation to test the effects of a home visiting intervention for high risk gestations in mitigating the harmful effects of toxic stress over the developing brain during the intra-uterine period and infancy and thus preventing the occurrence of mental disorders. This intervention was also sponsored by the Grand Challenge Canada ? Saving Brains and the Gates Foundation, CNPq, and FAPESP. Between 1997 and 2007 he was one of the editors of the Brazilian Journal of Psychiatry (Revista Brasileira de Psiquiatria). He is also a member of the American College of Neuropsychopharmacology, the Society of Biological Psychiatry, and the Brazilian Psychiatry Association. Prof. Miguel has supervised more than 60 students, from the undergraduate to the postdoctoral level. He has edited 12 books, published over 330 articles, cited more than 9000 times. He currently has an h-index of 62 (Google Scholar citation).
