Full Professor of Gynecology of the Department of Tocoginecology of Unicamp since 2010. Graduation in Medicine and residence in Gynecology and Obstetrics by the State University of Campinas (1979). PhD in Medicine from the same institution in (1990) and Post-Doctorate at Weill Cornell Medical College, Cornell University, Division of Immunology and Microbiology (1997-1999). Member of the Editorial Board - Revista Saúde Pública / Journal of Public Health, Journal of Medical Sciences and currently Co-Editor of the Brazilian Journal of Sexually Transmitted Diseases. Ad Hoc Advisor of FAPESP, FAPESC and FAEPEX. Extensive experience in the area of genital infections and vaginal immunology and works mainly on issues related to sexually transmitted diseases, genital infections, genital ulcers, Vulvodynia vulvovestibulitis, interstitial cystitis, vulvar lichen. Line of research focused on the mucosal immune response related to these diseases. Has published 165 scientific papers, 93 in international scientific journals (ISI). Responsible for the Genital Infections Outpatient Clinic at the Women's Health Center, assists women and conducts research related to recurrent vulvovaginitis, Chlamydia trachomatis infection, HPV infection, vulvodynia and intimate genital hygiene. Have being mentor for 15 master thesis, 15 doctorate works, 2 post-doctorates and 7 scientific initiations students. He was President of the Brazilian Society of STD-Regional São Paulo and Scientific Director of SBDST Nacional. He is Vice-President of the National Commission on Infectious Diseases of FEBRASGO. He was Scientific Director (2010/11 and 2012/13), Vice President (2014/15) and President of the Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the State of São Paulo - SOGESP (2016-17). Has been developing the line of research on GENITAL FEMININE HYGIENE since 2008 and is author of the Book: Feminine Genital Hygiene, among others. Larga experiência na área de infecções genitais e imunologia vaginal e atua principalmente nos temas relacionados às doenças sexualmente transmissíveis, infecções genitais, úlceras genitais, vulvodínia, vulvovestibulite, cistite intersticial, liquem vulvar. Linha de pesquisa focada na resposta imune das mucosas relacionadas a estas doenças. Publicou 165 trabalhos científicos sendo 93 de circulação internacional (ISI). Responsável pelo Ambulatório de Infecções Genitais do Centro de Atenção Integral à Saúde da Mulher, presta assistência às mulheres e realiza pesquisas sobre vulvovaginites recorrentes, Chlamydia trachomatis, HPV, vulvodínia e higiene genital.Já orientou 15 teses de mestrado, 15 de doutorado, 2 pós-doutorados e 7 iniciações científicas. Foi Presidente da Sociedade Brasileira de DST-Regional São Paulo e Diretor Científico da SBDST Nacional. É Vice-presidente da Comissão Nacional de Doenças Infectocontagiosas da FEBRASGO. Foi diretor científico (2010/11 e 2012/13), Vice-Presidente (2014/15) e Presidente da Sociedade de Obstetrícia e Ginecologia do Estado de São Paulo- SOGESP (2016-17). Vem desenvolvendo a linha de pesquisa sobre HIGIENE GENITAL FEMININA desde 2008 e é autor do Livro: Higiene Genital Feminina, entre outros. Aposentado em 29 de fevereiro de 2020, atual, Professor colaborador do DTG/ Unicamp.
