Virgilio Neves

Virgilio has an extensive experience and years of dedication to the production and study of images, such as photographs, paintings, graphic arts or illustrations. Therefore, it believes in the power of interdisciplinarity as a way to absorb, produce and propagate knowledge. For 30 years he has been conducting his career as an art director (as a photograph especialist) and visual artist reconciling the languages ​​within their respective territories, but always recognizing that there may be a point of contact between them: creativity. His academic career began in 1980 at the School of Communications and Arts of Snao Paulo University. He became a specialist in History of Art by FAAP in 2010 and completed his master's degree in Theory of Art at UNESP in 2019. As an artist and photographer, he has exhibited in Brazil and abroad. As an art director and creative director, he has worked in major agencies, where he has won several international awards such as Cannes, Clio, New York Festival, London Festival, One Show and numerous other brazilian awards. As an illustrator, he published children's books in partnership with the brazilian writer, Letícia Wierzchowski. Together, they won the Jabuti Prize for Literature in the category of children and youth in 2009, a prize in which they had already been finalists in 2007. Virgilio possui ampla experiência e anos de dedicação à produção e ao estudo das imagens, sejam elas fotografias, pinturas, artes gráficas ou ilustrações. Por isso, acredita no poder da interdisciplinariedade como forma de absorver, produzir e propagar conhecimento. Há 30 anos conduz sua carreira como diretor de arte (com ênfase em fotografia) e artista visual conciliando as linguagens dentro de seus respectivos territórios, mas sempre reconhecendo que entre eles pode haver um ponto de contato: a criatividade. Sua carreira acadêmica começou em 1980 na Escola de Comunicações e Artes da USP. Tornou-se especialista em História da Arte pela FAAP em 2010 e concluiu seu mestrado em Teoria da Arte na UNESP em 2019. Como artista, já expôs no Brasil e no exterior. Como diretor de arte e diretor de criação, trabalhou em grandes agências, período em que conquistou diversos prêmios internacionais como Cannes, Clio, New York Festival, London Festival, One Show e ainda outros inúmeros prêmios no Brasil. Como ilustrador, publicou livros infantis em parceria com a escritora gaúcha Letícia Wierzchowski. Com ela, ganhou o Prêmio Jabuti de Literatura na categoria infanto-juvenil em 2009, prêmio no qual já haviam sido finalistas em 2007.
