Vinicius Guilherme Rodrigues Vieira

DPhil in International Relations (Nuffield College, University of Oxford, 2015); M.A. in Latin American Studies (University of California at Berkeley, 2010); B.A. in Public Affairs; Major in Journalism (School of Communications and Arts, University of São Paulo, 2007). Fung Global Fellow, Princeton University (2016-2017); Fellow, Summer Program in Social Science, Institute for Advanced Study (IAS-Princeton, 2015-2017). He holds an Associate Professorship in Economics and International Relations at the Armando Alvares Penteado Foundation (FAAP), is the secretary of the research committee on International Political Economy (IPE) of the International Political Science Association (IPSA), and also teaches at the Getúlio Vargas Foundation (FGV) and at the Rio Branco Integrated College (FIRB). His research interests fall in the fields of politics and sociology, with a focus on political economy (domestic and international, covering topics related to the emerging powers and intergovernmental organizations, in particular multilateral development banks), foreign policy and issues related to identity and nationalism (racial relations in Brazil and the United States and religion and castes in India). Before being in academia, Dr. Rodrigues Vieira worked as professional journalist and regularly writes open-eds for UOL, the largest Brazilian webportal.

Doutor em Relações Internacionais pelo Nuffield College, University of Oxford (2015). Possui graduação em Comunicação Social, Habilitação em Jornalismo, pela Escola de Comunicações e Artes da Universidade de São Paulo (2007) e mestrado em Latin American Studies pela Universidade da California, Berkeley (2010). Foi fellow na Universidade Princeton (2016-17) e no Instituto de Estudos Avançados (IAS) na mesma cidade. Atualmente é Professor Adjunto (Associate Professor) em Economia e Relações Internacionais na Fundação Armando Alvares Penteado (FAAP), além de co-chair do grupo de pesquisa em Economia Política Internacional da Associação Internacional de Ciência Política (IPSA). Leciona ainda na Fundação Getúlio Vargas (FGV) e é pesquisador associado ao Instituto de Estudos Avançados da USP. no grupo de pesquisa Economia Política Internacional, Variedades de Democracia e Descarbonização, o qual conta com financiamento de projeto temático da FAPESP. Tem experiência em ciências sociais (ciência política e sociologia principalmente), pesquisando economia política (doméstica e internacional, como foco nas potências emergentes e organizações internacionais, em particular bancos multilaterais de desenvolvimento), política externa e questões relacionadas a identidade e nacionalidade (relações raciais no Brasil e nos Estados Unidos e religião e castas na Índia). Já atuou como jornalista profissional. Entre 2019 e 2022 foi colunista do UOL e desde abril de 2023 escreve e edita a coluna Democracia em Transe no JOTA.
