Flávio Francisco de Godoy Peres is graduated in Dentistry by the University of São Paulo (1992).In 1993, he was an intern treinee in Hospital Dentistry in the sectors of the Hospital das Clínicas of the Medical School of the University of São Paulo.Due to his professional activity at the time, in 1997 and 1998 he was a trainee in the Disciplines of General and Oral Pathology of the Department of Biosciences and Oral Diagnosis of the Institute of Science and Technology of UNESP - São José dos Campos (SP ) Campus - milestone in the expansion of the theoretical bases for the understanding and practice of Stomatology.He obtained the Master's degree in Dentistry - area of concentration in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Traumatology, from the University of São Paulo (2002) with the dissertation development in Surgical Anatomy of the Face, where he studied the surgical facial approaches and preservation of the facial nerve with rich details in Anatomy of the Face. Therefore, Human Anatomy, micro and macrostructure, is of great interest to him in research and teaching, especially in clinically oriented aspects.He obtained the PhD in Sciences from the Federal University of São Paulo-Escola Paulista de Medicina, Department of Surgery. The thesis focused on two vaporization protocols of the dysplastic epithelium of the lower vermilion lip by carbon dioxide laser in patients with chronic actinic cheilitis, in a very enriching experience in Oral Pathology, Stomatology and Oral Surgery.Stomatology has been, therefore, his predominant area of clinical activity in the practice of Dentistry, also an important area of interest in Research and Teaching.Concerning teaching experience, he taught Biology at secondary school for 5 years long and Human Anatomy in the Dental Prosthesis Program. Although up to now there is no scientific evidence to justify general its prescrition, general population screening for oral cancer (despite the old and clear recommendation to screen by the WHO), for many years oral cancer early dectection of has been na important job together with other primary health care professionals. Early Detection strategies, including high-risk population oral screening and early diagnosis of oral cancer and DPMD (Potentially Malignant Disorders) have been believed by him to be the main and wiser public health policy to approach oral cancer. Holds a dentist's degree in Portugal with the defense of a Master's Dissertation in Dentistry at the University of Porto: oral complications of hematopoietic stem cell transplants.
Flávio Francisco de Godoy Peres é graduado em Odontologia pela Universidade de São Paulo (1992).Em 1993, estagiou em Odontologia Hospitalar nos setores do Hospital das Clínicas da Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de São Paulo.Em virtude de sua atividade profissional à época, em 1997 e 1998 foi estagiário nas Disciplinas de Patologia Geral e Oral do Departamento de Biociências e Diagnóstico Bucal do Instituto de Ciência e Tecnologia da UNESP - São José dos Campos (SP). Campus - marco na ampliação dos seus conhecimentos das bases teóricas para a compreensão e prática da Estomatologia.Obteve o título de Mestre em Odontologia - área de concentração em Cirurgia e Traumatologia Bucomaxilofacial, pela Universidade de São Paulo (2002) com o desenvolvimento da dissertação em Anatomia Cirúrgica da Face, onde estudou as abordagens cirúrgicas faciais e a preservação do nervo facial com riqueza de detalhes em Anatomia da Face. Portanto, a Anatomia Humana, micro e macroestrutura, é de grande interesse para ele em pesquisa e ensino, especialmente em aspectos de orientação clínica.Obteve o título de Doutor em Ciências pela Universidade Federal de São Paulo-Escola Paulista de Medicina, Departamento de Cirurgia. A tese versou sobre dois protocolos de vaporização do epitélio displásico do lábio inferior vermelhão por laser de dióxido de carbono em doentes com queilite actínica crónica, numa rica experiência em Patologia Oral, Estomatologia e Cirurgia Oral.A Estomatologia tem sido, portanto, a sua área de atividade clínica predominante na prática da Medicina Dentária, sendo também uma importante área de seu interesse na Investigação e no Ensino.Quanto à experiência docente, lecionou Biologia no ensino secundário durante 5 anos e Anatomia Humana no curso Técnico de Prótese Dentária.Embora até o momento não haja evidências científicas que justifiquem sua prescrição geral, o rastreamento do câncer bucal na população em geral (apesar da antiga e clara recomendação de rastreamento da OMS), por muitos anos a detecção precoce do câncer bucal tem sido um trabalho importante juntamente com outros profissionais da atenção primária à saúde. As estratégias de Detecção Precoce, incluindo a triagem oral da população de alto risco e o diagnóstico precoce do câncer bucal e DPMD (Distúrbios Potencialmente Malignos), foram consideradas por ele a principal e mais sábia política de saúde pública para abordar o câncer bucal. Possui título de médico-dentista em Portugal com defesa de Dissertação de Mestrado em Medicina Dentária pela Universidade do Porto: complicações orais do transplantes de células tronco hematopoiéticas.
