I am a bachelor and graduate in biology, with a master's degree in ecology (UNICAMP) and a doctorate in Zoology (UNESP). I did post-doctoral internships at the Max-Planck Institute for Limnology (Germany), Museum of Natural History in Paris (France) and Kyushu University (Japan). I have been a professor at UFV since 1992, where I teach ecology and supervise students at the postgraduate programs in entomology and ecology, at the level of scientific initiation, masters and doctorate. I have been a CNPq productivity fellow since 2007; I research in the area of ecology and teaching-learning of ecology. Success in my work is based on collaboration and cooperation, which requires me to strive for greater equity for people of all backgrounds and situations, openness to the new and unknown, and respect for difference. I see it as my duty to help in the best way possible to overcome inequalities in condition and in respect, while trying to recognize and overcome my own prejudices. Even if these things are not explicitly part of the description of my activities, I would still do them because I think they are correct. I personally identify myself as white, male, heterosexual and without any physical or psychological limitations recognized by me.
Sou bacharel e licenciado em biologia, com mestrado em ecologia (UNICAMP) e doutorado em Zoologia (UNESP). Fiz estágios pós-doutorais no Instituto Max-Planck de Limnologia (Alemanha), Museu de História Natural de Paris (França) e Universidade de Kyushu (Japão). Sou professor na UFV desde 1992, onde leciono ecologia e oriento nos programas de pós-graduação em entomologia e ecologia, em nível de iniciação científica, mestrado e doutorado. Sou bolsista de produtividade do CNPq desde 2007, e pesquiso na área de ecologia e ensino-aprendizagem de ecologia. O sucesso no meu trabalho se baseia em colaboração e cooperação, o que exige que eu me esforce para uma maior equidade para pessoas de todas as origens e situações, abertura para o novo e desconhecido, e respeito pela diferença. Vejo como meu dever ajudar o melhor possível a superação de desigualdades de condição e respeito, enquanto tento reconhecer e superar meus próprios preconceitos. Mesmo que essas coisas não façam explicitamente parte da descrição de minhas atividades, eu ainda as faria porque acho que estão corretas. Eu pessoalmente me identifico como branco, masculino, heterossexual e sem limitações físicas ou psicológicas reconhecidas por mim.
