Tiago Elias Castelo de Oliveira

Tiago de Oliveira is a Ph.D. Student in Electrical Engineering and Computers at Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) in Lisbon, and also at Universidade Federal de Itajubá (UNIFEI) in Brazil as He is in a double degree program. He is writing his Ph.D. co-thesis within the Erasmus Program SMART2 (Smart Cities and technology) supervised by Professor Paulo Fernando Ribeiro and Professor Pedro Carvalho. He has been studying in Lisbon since March 2016, and he started his Ph.D. in September 2015 in Brazil. On August 15, He finished His Master degree at Universidade Federal de Itajubá supervised by Professor Paulo Fernando Ribeiro and Professor Donizetti Bonatto as well. His Master's research field was Hosting Capacity, giving him the opportunity to apply the concepts of Hosting Capacity to our PV system installed at the CERIn building (Smart Grid Center of Excellence) with 15 kWp. He conducted an extensive study at the CERIn and UNIFEI, leading him to determine the Hosting Capacity concerning permissive overvoltage and harmonics. Currently, in his Ph.D. Project, He has been further developing the concepts used in his Master's thesis. He has recently created a new equation that relates the permission overvoltage and the harmonic voltages, and He has been gathering results, all positive so far. This project's main purpose is to relate a power system analysis with the tools capable of identifying the possible amount of renewable integration, as well as with the distribution system operation methods and case studies with high renewable penetration.
