Marcelo Bertolini

Marcelo Bertolini graduated in Veterinary Medicine at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) in January 1990, and has performed technical training in Reproductive Biotechnologies at the National Center for Animal Breeding in Nishi-Shirakawa, Japan, from September 1990 through February 1991. Marcelo Bertolini has obtained a: M.Sc. in Veterinary Science at UFRGS, with emphasis in Animal Reproduction, in March 1994; Ph.D. in Animal Physiology at the University of California, Davis (UC Davis), California, USA, with emphasis in Animal Reproduction, in January 2002; and postdoctorate at the Embryo Transfer and Transgenics Labs, Department of Animal Science, at UC Davis, from January 2002 through December 2005. Marcelo Bertolini is Adjunct Professor at the Veterinary Clinical Pathology Department, School of Veterinary Medicine at UFRGS, since January 2015. Marcelo Bertolini is accredited as supervisor at the Graduate Program in Veterinary Sciences (PPGCV/UFRGS), acting as chair since 2021. Marcelo Bertolini has experience in the fields of pathology and biotechnology of reproduction in ruminants, animal physiology, cell and molecular biology, and has been working on research in the areas of mammalian embryology, developmental biology, ultrasonography, physiology of pregnancy and technological development in the areas of transgenesis and nuclear transfer. He was member of the Scientific Committee of the Brazilian International Centre of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB) linked to the Secretariat of Policies and Programmes for Research and Development (SEPED) of the Ministry of Science and Technology (MCT) from 2008 to 2014. Marcelo Bertolini was member of the IETS Foundation, one of the divisions of the International Embryo Transfer Society (IETS), from 2011 to 2017, acting as chair from 2013 to 2015. He was member of the IETS Board of the Governors from 2017 to 2019. Marcelo Bertolini is member of the Biosafety and Bioethics National Committee of the Federal Council of Veterinary Medicine (CFMV) since March 2018.

Marcelo Bertolini possui graduação em Medicina Veterinária pela UFRGS, treinamento técnico em Biotécnicas da Reprodução pelo Centro Nacional de Melhoramento Animal, em Nishi-Shirakawa, no Japão, mestrado em Ciências Veterinárias pela UFRGS, com ênfase em Reprodução Animal, Ph.D. em Fisiologia Animal pela UC Davis, Califórnia, EUA, ênfase em Reprodução Animal, e pós-doutorado junto ao Embryo Transfer Lab e Transgenics Lab, do Department of Animal Science, na UC Davis. Marcelo Bertolini é Professor Adjunto junto ao Departamento de Patologia Clínica Veterinária da Faculdade de Veterinária da UFRGS. Marcelo Bertolini é credenciado como orientador do quadro permanente junto ao Programa em Ciências Veterinárias (PPGCV/UFRGS), sendo coordenador desde 2021. Marcelo Bertolini tem experiência nas áreas de patologia e biotecnologia da reprodução em ruminantes, fisiologia animal, biologia celular e molecular animal, atuando em pesquisa nas áreas de embriologia em mamíferos, biologia do desenvolvimento, ultrassonografia, fisiologia da gestação e desenvolvimento tecnológico nas áreas de transgênese e transferência nuclear. Foi membro do Comitê Científico Brasileiro do International Centre of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB) vinculado à Secretaria de Políticas e Programas de Pesquisa e Desenvolvimento (SEPED) do Ministério da Ciência e Tecnologia (MCT) de 2008 a 2014. Foi membro do colegiado da IETS Foundation, uma das divisões da International Embryo Transfer Society (IETS), de 2011 a 2017, tendo sido Presidente de 2013 a 2015. Foi membro do Board of Governors da IETS de 2017 a 2019. É membro da Comissão Nacional de Bioética e Biossegurança do CFMV desde março de 2018.
