Edinete Melo da Silva

Graduated in Biological Sciences in 1999 from Federal University of Bahia (UFBA), Salvador. I worked on HIV-1 pathogenesis since 1998. During her masters i investigated the Inhibition of HIV-1 infection by the índole alkaloid coronaridine and its analogous 18-metoxi-coronaridine and acquired experience to work in security level laboratory 3 (P3). A patent was applied for indole alkaloid for the treatment of AIDS, 2002. During the Phd i focused on a genetic association study of MHC polymorphism (HLA and Microsatellite) in the pathogenesis of AIDS. After training in the microssatellite genotype technique i implanted it at LASP/CPqGM/FIOCRUZ. At the present time I study (post-doctorade) the Epidemiology and Molecular Evolution of Hepatitis B and Delta at the Institut National de la Santé et de la Recherche Médicale-INSERM, France.

Possui graduação em Ciências Biológicas pela Universidade Federal da Bahia-UFBA (1999), mestrado em Patologia Humana pela Universidade Federal da Bahia-UFBA (2002) e doutorado em Biologia Celular e Molecular pelo Instituto Oswaldo Cruz - IOC/FIOCRUZ (2008). Tem experiência na área de Biologia Geral, com ênfase em Biologia Celular e Molecular, e Genética, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: HIV, AIDS, Polimorfismo Genético, MHC e Microssatélite. Possui pos-doutorado em Epidemiologia e Evolução Molecular dos Virus da Hépatite B e Delta, pelo Institut National de la Santé et de la Recherche Médicale-INSERM, França.
