I have a first class degree in food engineering from the University of Tocantins/Brazil. During the course I completed several modules that required advanced calculus. During my under-graduate studies I carried out a research project for two years on the recovery of side fractions from the Brazilian Agroenergy industry and its development into food products. Furthermore, I carried out a research Master?s in Agroenergy on the optimisation of starch hydrolysis and ethanol fermentation. After completing my Masters, I taught at a Brazilian University for one year teaching Statistics, Engineering Mechanics and Fluid Mechanics. Since February 2015, I have been working as a visiting student in the laboratory of Prof. Jurgen Denecke in the University of Leeds. My integration into the cell biology research allowed me to learn the latest recombinant DNA techniques, transient expression in plant cells and state of the art confocal laser scanning microscopy. I have created fluorescent fusions to representatives of the Prenylated Rab acceptor 1 (PRA1) domain protein family and I have carried out experiments to determine the difference in membrane topology between the ERD2 gene family and the related ERP gene family. Prior to this I worked from 2009 to 2015 as a technician in the laboratory of scientific instrumentation at the Federal University of Tocantins, Food Engineering department. The main subject of research was food?s composition analysis using traditional methods such as soxlet extractor, kjeldahl digestion and chromatography (HPLC and GC). Also, I did IELTS test, on July/2015, and my scores were: Listening: 8; Reading: 8; Writing: 6; Speaking: 5.5; Overall band score: 7. My English lexicon is continually improving due to my day to day work in a research laboratory.
