René Delgado Hernandez
Natural of the city of Cabaiguán, province of Sancti-Spiritus, Cuba. Born on December 23, 1959. Married, with one child. Resident in the Municipality Playa, City of Havana, Cuba. In 1976 he joined the 6th Contingent of the University Pedagogical Detachment "Manuel Acunce Domenech" graduating in 1981 as Professor of Chemistry and in 1983 as a Bachelor in Education in the Specialty of Chemistry at the Pedagogical University of Havana (ISPEJV). He completed his pedagogical studies and continued his studies at the University of Havana, studying for a bachelor's degree in biochemistry at the Faculty of Biology, a career that ended in 1987. In 1996 he completed his doctoral studies attaining the title of Doctor of Biological Sciences. He worked from 1989 to October 2008 at the Center of Pharmaceutical Chemistry (CQF) scientific institution of the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP) belonging to the Scientific Hub of Havana, where he served as a researcher in the field of experimental pharmacology and head of the Department Of Biomedical Research for a period of 9 years. Faced with changes in the scientific missions of this institution, he moves to the National Center for Clinical Trials (CENCEC), MINSAP, where he worked for 1 year, (01/11/2008 to 31/12/2009), as Vice Director Of Teaching and Research. In 2010, he moved to the Center for Research and Development of Medicines (CIDEM), where he worked until March 31, 2016. In this institution he was head of the Laboratory of Molecular Pharmacology (2010), and from the 2011 and until March 2016, he served as Deputy Director of Research-Development of the institution. He has been Executive Secretary (1995-2000), Vice President (2000-2004) and current President for two consecutive periods of the National Board of the Cuban Society of Pharmacology (2005-2010 and 2010-2016). Elected President for the 2011-2014 period of the Latin American Association of Pharmacology (ALF) and currently coordinates the permanent secretary of the ALF, based in Cuba. He was elected Vice President of the new Board of Directors of the ALF presided by the Brazilian Association of Pharmacology, contributing to the organization of the 21st Latin American Congress of Pharmacology that was held in October 2016 in Foz de Iguacu, State of Paraná, Brazil. In April 2016, he moved to work at the Institute of Pharmacy and Food (IFAL) of the University of Havana (UH), where he is currently developing activities as Professor and Researcher in the field of pharmacology, taking In charge of the management of international projects in the field of natural products of therapeutic interest within CEIEB (Center for Research and Biological Evaluation) of IFAL-UH. He was elected Academic Holder of the Cuban Academy of Sciences (ACC).
