Graduated in Industrial Pharmacy from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1985), Master's degree (1989) and PhD (1992) in Natural Product Chemistry from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. I am currently a Full Professor at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. Founded, in 1996, the Laboratory and Phytochemistry and Pharmacognosy at the Faculty of Pharmacy, UFRJ. My field of expertise is Chemistry of Natural Products and Pharmacognosy, acting on the following subjects: isolation and identification of bioactive natural products, medicinal and phytotherapeutic plants, plant chemistry of the Verbenaceae family, essential oils and ethnopharmacology. I was the Vice-President of the Brazilian Society of Pharmacognosy between 2005-2009, and President of the Italo-Latin American Society of Ethnomedicine for the 2012-2014 biennium. I was head of the Department of Natural Products and Food (DPNA) of the Faculty of Pharmacy-UFRJ between 2011 and 2015 and vice-Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Pharmaceutical Sciences of the Faculty of Pharmacy-UFRJ, where I act as permanent teacher since 1998. I am also a permanent teacher of the Plant Biotechnology Program of UFRJ (since 2000). Since 2011, I have been Associate Editor of the Brazilian Journal of Pharmacognosy. At the same year, I joined the Research Network Natural Products against Neglected Diseases - "ResNet NPND", where I collaborate with Dr. Sami Khalid (Sudan) in the search for plant extracts of Brazilian the biodiversity against Mycetoma. I created and I am coordinator, since 2014, of the Analitics FAcility of the Faculdade de Farmácia, UFRJ. I am a FAPERJ ?Scientist from Our State? since 2017. She is currently Vice-Director of the Faculty of Pharmacy of UFRJ. In October 2022 he received the Walter Mors Medal, during the VI Fluminense Journay of Natural Products, for her contributions to the Chemistry of Natural Products in Brazil. In 2023 was the receipient of the 3rd award Fernando de Oliveira, issued by the Brazilian Society of Pharmacognosy, for her contributions in the fielf of Pharmacognosy.
Possui graduação em Farmácia Industrial pela Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (1985), mestrado (1989) e doutorado (1992) em Química de Produtos Naturais pela Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro. Atualmente é Professora Titular da Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro. Fundou, em 1996, o Laboratório e Fitoquímica e Farmacognosia na Faculdade de Farmácia, UFRJ. Tem experiencia na área de Química dos Produtos Naturais e Farmacognosia, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: isolamento e identificação de produtos naturais bioativos, plantas medicinais e fitoterápicos, química de plantas da família Verbenaceae, óleos essenciais e etnofarmacologia. Foi Vice-Presidente da Sociedade Brasileira de Farmacognosia entre 2005 -2009, e presidente da Sociedade Italo-LatinoAmericana de Etnomedicina no bienio 2012-2014. Foi chefe do Departamento de Produtos Naturais e Alimentos (DPNA) da Faculdade de Farmácia-UFRJ entre 2011 e 2015 e foi substituta eventual da Coordenadora de Pós Graduação do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Ciências Farmacêuticas da Faculdade de Farmácia-UFRJ, onde atua como docente permanente desde 1998. É também docente permanente do Programa de Biotecnologia Vegetal da UFRJ (desde 2000). Desde 2011, é Editora Associada da Revista Brasileira de Farmacognosia-Brazilian Journal of Pharmacognosy. Nesse mesmo ano passou a integrar a rede Research Network Natural Products against Neglected Diseases - "ResNet NPND", onde atualmente colabora com o Dr. Sami Khalid (Sudão) na busca de extratos vegetais da biodiversidade brasileira, ativos contra Mycetoma. Membro do Editorial Board dos periódicos Journal of ethnopharmacology e Frontiers in Pharmacology section Ethnopharmacology. Integrante do Programa Iberoamericano de Ciencia y Tecnología para el Desarrollo -CYTED- 2023, através do projeto "P122RT0081.- Potenciales agentes antimicrobianos presentes en alimentos vegetales de interés regional (REDALIM-MIC), coordenado pela Dra. Valeria Sülsen, da Argentina. Criou e coordena, desde 2014, a Central Analítica da Faculdade de Farmácia da UFRJ. É bolsista Cientista do Nosso Estado da FAPERJ. Atualmente é Vice-Diretora da Faculdade de Farmácia da UFRJ. Em outubro de 2022 recebeu a Medalha Walter Mors, durante a VI Jornada Fluminense de Produtos Naturais, pelas suas contribuições à Quimica de Produtos Naturais no Brasil. Em maio de 2023 recebeu o 3o Prêmio Fernando de Oliveira, outorgado pela Sociedade Brasileira de Farmacognosia, pelas suas contribuições á Farmacognosia.
