Nelson Guilherme Castelli Astrath

Bacharel (2001), Mestre (2003), Doutor (2006) e Pós-Doutor (2007) em Física pela Universidade Estadual de Maringá. Research Associate no Institute for Fuel Cell Innovation, National Research Council Canada (2007-2009) e Visiting Professor na Utah State University (2013). Professor do Departamento de Física da Universidade Estadual de Maringá (2009-atual). Chefe do Departamento de Física (2014-2018), Coordenador (2018-2020) e Coordenador Adjunto (2020-2022) do curso de Pós-Graduação em Física da Universidade Estadual de Maringá. Estuda os efeitos da interação entre luz e matéria em escalas sub-nanométricas utilizando métodos fototérmicos e fotomecânicos.

Dr. Nelson G. C. Astrath obtained his BSc, MSc, and PhD in Physics in 2002, 2003, and 2006, respectively, in the Physics Department at Universidade Estadual de Maringá, Brazil. He was a Post-Doctorial Fellow from 2006 to 2007 in the same department above. In July of 2007, Nelson joined the NRC Institute for Fuel Cell Innovation (NRC-IFCI), first as a Post-Doctoral Fellow from July 2007 to July 2008 and as a Research Associate from July 2008 to September 2009. Since then, Dr. Astrath has joined the Photothermal Group / Physics Department at Universidade Estadual de Maringá as Professor. Dr. Astrath has an international research record in the development of new materials and non-destructive characterization of materials, especially using optical and photothermal techniques (Thermal Lens, Thermal Mirror, Photothermal Deflection Mirage).
