Henrique Carlos de Oliveira de Castro

Henrique Carlos de Castro is PhD in Political Science, and currently teaches at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul. He taugth at the University of Brasília, at the Federal University of Minas Gerais, and was director of the DATAUnB (Public Opinion Research Center - Applied Social Research) at the University of Brasília. He was also a researcher at the École des hautes études en science sociales (Paris, France), at the University of Michigan and at the University of Notre Dame (USA). He was Secretary-General of the Brazilian Society of Sociology. He was the principal investigator of several public policy evaluation studies at the national level for the Presidency of the Republic, the Federal Supreme Court, the UNDP and other branches of the Brazilian Federal Administration. Since 2000, he has been the coordinator and principal investigator of the World Values Survey in Brazil.
PhD and Master in Political Science, UFRGS. Professor and researcher at the Graduate Program in Political Science and at the Department of Economics and International Relations of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), Brazil, and guest professor at UTPL (Universidad Técnica Privada de Loja), Ecuador. Principal Researcher of the World Values Survey and National Director in Brazil. Member of the Values 20 Working Group (V20), a global community of experts and academic professionals that aims to propose national and global public policies for G20 leaders based on values and people-centered. Member of the Special Support Group (SGA) of the Capes International Relations Board and a consultant for the Capes-Humboldt program and the Fulbright Commission. He coordinates the CNPq "World Values Survey" and "Pirandello - Social Sciences and Artificial Intelligence Research Lab" research groups. Researcher and guest professor at the Kellogg Institute for International Studies at the University of Notre Dame (Brazilian Fulbright Distinguished Chair in Democracy and Human Development), USA. Postdoctoral training at the École des hautes études en science sociales (Paris, France), doctoral training at the Institute for Social Research of the University of Michigan (with Prof. Ronald Inglehart) and specialization courses in Qualitative and Quantitative Research Methodologies at the same university. He taught at the CEPPAC (Center for Research and Graduate Studies on the Americas) and was director of DATAUnB (Center for Public Opinion Research - Applied Social Research), UnB(University of Brasília), at the Department of Political Science of UFRGS, and at the Intensive Program of Quantitative Methodology of UFMG (Federal University of Minas Gerais). Former General Secretary of the SBS- Brazilian Society of Sociology (2004 to 2005). He was the principal investigator of several public policy evaluation studies at the national level for the Presidency of the Republic, the Federal Supreme Court, the UNDP and other branches of the Brazilian Federal Administration, and national and internacional institutions. He works with research methodology, political culture, public policies, Artificial Intelligence and international relations.
