Dr. José Eloízio da Costa

He holds a degree in Geography from the Federal University of Sergipe (1987), a degree in Law (attorney OAB/se, n. 3147) from the Federal University of Sergipe (2000), a master's degree in Geography from the Federal University of Sergipe (1992) and a Ph. in Geography from the Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho (1998), postdoctoral fellow at the Federal University of Ceará and currently performing a postdoctoral internship at the University of Lisbon, Portugal. He is currently a professor at the Federal University of Sergipe, assigned to the Department of Geography and a permanent member of the Graduate Program in Geography at the same institution. He is the leader of the Research Group on Transformations in the Rural World, accredited by the CNPq for over twenty years and certified by the Federal University of Sergipe. He has experience in the area of #8203;#8203;Human Geography, with emphasis on Political Geography, Economic Geography, and Rural Geography, working mainly on the following topics: family farming, rural development, territorial development, public policies and regional development. and, more recently, he has been active in studies on rural microfinance, with an emphasis on the effects of applying the agroamigo methodology based on granting credit to the poorest family farmers in the Northeast. It has carried out studies in interdisciplinary areas, linked to water resources and the importance of institutional arrangements. He is a member of SOBER - Brazilian Society of Economics, Administration and Rural Sociology, being a member since 2013.

Possui graduação em Licenciatura Em Geografia pela Universidade Federal de Sergipe (1987), graduação em Direito (advogado OAB/se, n. 3.147) pela Universidade Federal de Sergipe (2000), mestrado em Geografia pela Universidade Federal de Sergipe (1992) e doutorado em Geografia pela Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho (1998), pos-doutorado pela Universidade Federal do Ceará e atualmente realiza estágio de pos-doutoramento na Universidade de Lisboa, Portugal. Atualmente é professor titular da Universidade Federal de Sergipe, lotado no Departamento de Geografia e membro permanente do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Geografia da mesma instituição. É lidér do Grupo de Pesquisa sobre Transformações no Mundo Rural, credenciado no CNPq há mais vinte anos e certificado pela Universidade Federal de Sergipe. Tem experiência na área da Geografia Humana, com ênfase em Geografia Política Geografia Econômica, e Geografia Rural atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: agricultura familiar, desenvolvimento rural, desenvolvimento territorial, políticas públicas e desenvolvimento regional. e atua, mais recentemente, nos estudos sobre as microfinanças rurais, com ênfase nos efeitos da aplicação da metodologia do agroamigo a partir da concessão de crédito destinado aos agricultores familiares mais pobres do Nordeste. Tem realizado estudos em áreas interdisciplinares, ligado aos recursos hidricos e da importância dos arranjos institucionais. É sócio da SOBER - Sociedade Brasileira de Economia, Administração e Sociologia Rural, sendo sócio desde 2013.
