Academic experience:
Rômulo José Soares Bezerra holds a degree in Pharmacy from Universidade Estácio de Sá (2004), a Master's degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology with an emphasis in Biochemistry from FIOCRUZ (2008) and a PhD in Cellular and Molecular Biology with an emphasis in Pharmacology and Immunology from FIOCRUZ (2012). Member of the American Chemical Society (ACS), has experience in cell culture, microbiology, biochemistry, pharmacology and toxicology in the following subjects: Toxicological assays, Leishmania amazonensis, nitric oxide, arginase, experimental anti-Leishmania chemotherapy, trypanosomatid biochemistry, Tuberculosis, MTB, BCG, MDR, XDR, Acute Liver Failure, Hepatology, virology, high flow screening of natural and synthetic products to obtain new drugs, purinergic receptors and neuropathic pain. He is currently a permanent professor and advisor of the Postgraduate Program in Teaching in Biosciences and Health at the Oswaldo Cruz Institute (PGLSEBS - IOC) FIOCRUZ - RJ, where he also served as coordinator of the discipline of updating in cell biology. He has already supervised ten students, two of whom are co-supervisors: one for a master's degree and another for a doctorate in the Program for Cellular and Molecular Biology at the Oswaldo Cruz Institute (PGBCM - IOC) FIOCRUZ, six for scientific initiation and three for specialization Lato Sensu - RJ (PGLSEBS - IOC ). Currently, he directs one specialization course at PGLSEBS - IOC and two undergraduate research. As a bibliographic production, it has more than 17 articles published in an indexed international magazine, a book chapter and about 15 national and international awards, in addition to having co-authorship in the creation of a pharmacology teaching software, Pharmavirtua (open access in www.lcc.kftox.com) and inventor of a patent filed with the INPI under registration number BR1020140308970. The research was awarded three grants: Installation Aid - Faperj (2013), and two Universal - CNPq (2014 and 2018). On October 20, 2016, Rômulo was appointed member of the teaching committee of the Regional Pharmacy Council of Rio de Janeiro (CRF-RJ) (2016-2019), in 2017 he was awarded a post-doctorate grade 10 from the State of Rio de Janeiro. January by FAPERJ (Research Support Foundation of the State of Rio de Janeiro) and in 2018 he was invited to join the technical chamber of innovations in clinical pharmacy at CRF-RJ (2018-2019). Since 2018 he has been a member of the team of the National Institute of Science and Technology in Tuberculosis (INCT-TB) of CNPq.

Rômulo José Soares Bezerra possui graduação em Farmácia pela Universidade Estácio de Sá (2004), Mestrado em Biologia Celular e Molecular ênfase em Bioquímica pela FIOCRUZ (2008) e Doutorado em Biologia Celular e Molecular ênfase em Farmacologia e Imunologia pela FIOCRUZ (2012). Membro da Sociedade Americana de Química (ACS), tem experiência na área de cultivo celular, microbiologia, bioquímica, farmacologia e toxicologia nos seguintes temas: Ensaios toxicológicos, Leishmania amazonensis, óxido nítrico, arginase, quimioterapia experimental anti-Leishmania, bioquímica de tripanosomatídeos, Tuberculose, MTB, BCG, MDR, XDR, Insuficiência Hepática Aguda, Hepatologia, virologia, triagem de alta vazão de produtos naturais e sintéticos para obtenção de novos fármacos, receptores purinérgicos e dor neuropática. Atualmente é docente permanente e orientador do programa de Pós-Graduação em Ensino em Biociências e Saúde do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz (PGLSEBS - IOC) FIOCRUZ - RJ, onde também atuou como coordenador da disciplina de atualização em biologia celular. Já orientou dez alunos, sendo duas coorientações: uma de mestrado e outra de doutorado no Programa de Biologia Celular e Molecular do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz (PGBCM - IOC) FIOCRUZ, seis de iniciação científica e três de especialização Lato Sensu - RJ (PGLSEBS - IOC). Atualmente orienta um de especialização na PGLSEBS - IOC e dois de iniciação científica. Como produção bibliográfica possui mais de 17 artigos publicados em revista internacional indexada, um capítulo de livro e cerca de 15 prêmios nacionais e internacionais, além de possuir co-autoria na criação de um software de ensino em farmacologia, o Pharmavirtua (de acesso livre no site www.lcc.kftox.com) e é inventor de uma patente depositada no INPI sob o número de registro BR1020140308970. Foi contemplado com três fomentos a pesquisa: Auxílio Instalação - Faperj (2013), e dois Universal - CNPq (2014 e 2018). Em 20 de Outubro de 2016, Rômulo foi nomeado membro da comissão de ensino do Conselho Regional de Farmácia do Rio de Janeiro (CRF-RJ) (período: 2016-2019, retornando em 2022), em 2017 foi contemplado com Pós- Doutorado nota 10 do Estado do Rio de Janeiro pela FAPERJ (Fundação de Apoio a Pesquisa do Estado do Rio de Janeiro) e em 2018 foi convocado a integrar a câmara técnica de inovações em farmácia clínica do CRF-RJ (2018-2019). Desde 2018 integra a equipe do Instituto Nacional de Ciência e Tecnologia em Tuberculose (INCT-TB) do CNPq.
