Anais Alves Murakami

Doctoral fellow in Visual Poetics at School of Communication and Arts from São Paulo University (USP), Master in Contemporary Art and Culture (2018) and Bachelor in Visual Arts (2016) from Institute of Arts from the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ). During her master's degree she conducted a hybrid research between theoretical production and artistic practice, treating the frontier as an interstitial point that connects opposites, when proposing a cross-cultural reading about Japanese philosophies and experiences in the dry countryside of Ceará (Brazil) related to nature. Currently, she researches relations between nature and artificiality, proposing a connection between art, science and empirical and animistic thoughts, with special interest in post-anthropocentric theories and Japanese philosophy. She participated in residences and exhibitions in Brazil and Japan, in institutions such as Paço das Artes RJ, Oi Futuro, H. Pop Gallery (Tokyo), Centro Municipal Hélio Oiticica, among others.

Doutoranda em Poéticas Visuais no PPGAV - USP, Mestre em Arte e Cultura Contemporânea (2018) e Bacharel em Artes Visuais (2016) pelo Instituto de Artes da UERJ. Desde de 2021 é Pesquisadora Visitante no Departamento de International Culture and Communications Studies da Universidade Waseda (Japão), investigando as ecologia das paisagens de Satoyama. Durante o mestrado fez uma leitura transcultural sobre natureza e resiliência no Japão e sertão cearense a partir do conceito de interstício. Atualmente, pesquisa relações entre natureza e artificialidade a partir dos campos da arte e ciência (bioarte), mitologia e animismo, propondo uma leitura transversal entre teorias pós-antropocêntricas e filosofias japonesas. Participou de residências e exposições no Brasil e no Japão, em instituições como Paço das Artes RJ, Oi Futuro, Galeria H. Pop (Tóquio), Centro Municipal Hélio Oiticica, entre outros. Em 2021 recebeu o prêmio QOL MATSUDO AWARD - PARADISE AIR (Japão).
