IVANI DE SOUZA BOTT

I graduated in Physics from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), Brazil in 1974, and I also defended my Master´s thesis (in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering) at UFRJ, in 1977. I received my PhD from the Dept. of Metals and Materials Engineering in 1987, from the Sheffield City Polytechnic, UK (now Sheffield Hallam University). I have lectured full-time in the Dept. of Materials Science and Metallurgy at the Pontificia Universidade Catolica (PUC-Rio), Rio de Janeiro, Brazil since 1986, and am currently an Associate Professor in this dept. My areas of expertise are; Metallurgy and Materials Engineering, with special emphasis on the Physical Metallurgy of Welding, including microstructural characterization, microstructure-mechanical properties correlations, Stress Corrosion Cracking in API steels and also automotive steels and nanocomposite coatings with anticorrosive properties

Possui graduação em Física pela Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (1974), mestrado em Engenharia Metalúrgica e de Materiais pela Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (1977) e doutorado em Metals and Materials Engineering obtido na Sheffield City Polytechnic (1987), agora Sheffield Hallam University. Atualmente é professor Associado da Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro. Tem experiência na área de Engenharia de Materiais e Metalúrgica, com ênfase em Metalurgia Física da Soldagem, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: Soldagem, Caracterização Microestrutural, Corrosão sob Tensão em aços API, aços para a Indústria Automobilística, revestimentos nano-aditivados com propriedades anticorrosivas.
