Leonardo Lima received his bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (2002), a Master's Degree in Chemical Engineering - Biotechnological Processes from the State University of Campinas (2006) and a Ph.D. in Biomolecular Physics from the University of São Paulo (2011). He is currently Adjunct Professor at the Federal University of São João Del-Rei, Campus Sete Lagoas. He held a postdoctoral internship sponsored by the "Strategic Programs - DR1 (CAPES" at the field of Computational Biophysics on the "Institut für Allgemeine, Anorganische und Theoretische Chemie" from the "Centrum für Chemie und Biomedizin (CCB)", "Universität Innsbruck (UIBK)", Innsbruck, Austria (2019). Currently, he work as visiting research at the unity ARNA-U1212 from Institute Nationale de la Santé et la Recherche Médicale, Bordeaux, France, sponsored by CNPq (CNPq processes 400996/2022-7 and 403140/2022-6). He works in the fields of Computational Biochemistry, Molecular and theoretical Biophysics, Structural Biology, Molecular Modeling and Biotechnology. Topics of particular interest are the biophysics and molecular dynamics of enzymes, macromolecules and systems of biotechnological application in general, protein-ligand interaction, protein-DNA interaction, macromolecular complexes, protein stability and evolution, theoretical and medicinal chemistry/biochemistry.
Possui graduação em Ciências Biológicas pela Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (2002), Mestrado em Engenharia Química - Processos Biotecnológicos pela Universidade Estadual de Campinas (2006) e Doutorado em Física Biomolecular pela Universidade de São Paulo (2011).
Atualmente é Professor Adjunto na Universidade Federal de São João Del-Rei, Campus Sete Lagoas. Realizou estágio Pós-Doutoral com bolsa "Programas Estratégicos - DR1 (CAPES)" na área de Biofísica Computacional no "Institut für Allgemeine, Anorganische und Theoretische Chemie" do "Centrum für Chemie und Biomedizin (CCB)" da "Universität Innsbruck (UIBK)", Innsbruck, Áustria (2019). Recentemente (2022- atual) atua como pesquisador visitante na unidade ARNA-U1212 do Institute Nationale de la Santé et la Recherche Médicale, Bordeaux, França, com fomento CNPq (processos CNPq 400996/2022-7 e 403140/2022-6). Atua nas áreas de Bioquímica Computacional, Biofísica Molecular e teórica, Biologia Estrutural, Modelagem Molecular, Bio/Quimoinformática estrutural e Biotecnologia. Temas de interesse particular são a biofísica e dinâmica molecular de enzimas, macromoléculas e sistemas de aplicabilidade biotecnológica em geral, triagem e planejamento racional de ligantes, interação biomolecular, complexos macromoleculares, função, estabilidade e evolução de proteínas, bioquímica/química teórica e medicinal.
