Neelam Shah

Acquired degree of Master of Philosophy (M. Phil) in Biochemistry / Molecular Biology from Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) Islamabad, Pakistan and Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Biochemistry from Hazara University (HU) Mansehra, Pakistan. For having excellent academic output throughout four years of B. Sc (Hons), was awarded Gold Medal and Merit Certificate, in 2009, by Hazara University Mansehra, Pakistan. During B. SC (Hons), was trained at a very basic level to get familiar with lab techniques and also wrote a thesis based on review of literature entitling "A Review Report on Comparative Study of Immunoglobulins in Milk". Has research experience in the area of Human Molecular Genetics with a focus on following topic: Linkage Analysis of Families with Congenital Anophthalmia; during which she was involved in the identification of mutations in loci or genes associated with Congenital Anophthalmia/ Microphthalmia, by using method of Homozygosity Mapping / Genotyping through microsattelite markers. Has experience in techniques of Molecular Biology: Clinical evaluation of patients and blood sampling. Genomic DNA extraction by phenol and kit method, DNA purification. PCR, Real Time PCR. Electrophoresis (Agarose, PAGE). DNA Sequencing. Preparation of solutions, reagents and stains following standard laboratory formulas and protocols. Basic laboratory equipment such as centrifuge, homogenizer, incubators, lab freezers, autoclaving, rotary evaporators, pH meter and Nanodrop. Also used bioinformatic tools & software for statistical analysis, evaluation and interpretation of the results. Has basic level experience of clinical diagnostic techniques to detect typhoid fever, Hepatitis B and C virus, total lipid profile, liver function test, microscopy and other tests of hematology.
