Kauan Ribeiro de Sena Gomes

Farmacêutico-Bioquímico pela Faculdade de Ciências Farmacêuticas da Universidade de São Paulo (FCF-USP). Foi bolsista CAPES pelo programa Ciências sem Fronteiras, graduação sanduíche, pela University of Toronto ? ON, Canadá (2013- 2014). Atuou como estagiário na empresa MSD, na área de Garantia da Qualidade (2014 ? 2016), e na empresa Merck S/A nas áreas de Assuntos Regulatórios e Gerenciamento de Projetos (2016). Em 2017, entrou para o Laboratório Especial de Desenvolvimento de Vacinas da Dra. Luciana C.C. Leite no Instituto Butantan, onde foi bolsista Fapesp para o desenvolvimento de cepas recombinantes de Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) para o tratamento antitumoral de câncer de bexiga, projeto pelo qual foi finalista do Prêmio Jovem Cientista na categoria Iniciação-Científica da Reunião Científica do Instituto. No mesmo ano (2017), atuou junto ao grupo acadêmico da Universidade de São Paulo na Competição Internacional de Máquinas Geneticamente Engenhadas (iGEM), conquistando a Medalha de Ouro em Boston ? Massachusetts, EUA. Em 2020, obteve o título de Mestre em Ciências na área de Bioquímica com bolsa Fapesp para desenvolver o projeto ?Aplicação de Biologia Sintética na construção de circuito genético para melhorar o efeito antitumoral da Salmonella spp.?, que incluiu período sanduíche na University of Toronto Mississauga para integrar o grupo de Biologia Sintética do Prof. David McMillen (2019). Adicionalmente, durante o mestrado, contribuiu para a concepção e organização do Curso Advanced School in Syntehtic Biology do Laboratório de Biologia Sintética e Sistêmica, ambos da Faculdade de Medicina de Ribeirão Preto (FMRP) (2019). Atualmente é aluno de doutorado do Centro de Terapia Celular (CTC ? CEPID) no Hemocentro de Ribeirão Preto, onde desenvolve projeto com imunoterapia celular utilizando células T-CAR e NK-CAR.

Graduated as a Pharmaceutical-Biochemist from the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences of the University of São Paulo (FCF-USP). He was a CAPES fellow by the Science without Borders program, from the University of Toronto - ON, Canada (2013-2014). He worked as an intern at the Merck Co., in the area of ​​Quality Assurance (2014 - 2016), and at the company Merck KGaA in the areas of Regulatory Affairs and Project Management (2016). In 2017, he joined the Dr. Luciana CC Leite's Special Laboratory for Vaccine Development at the Butantan Institute, under a Fapesp fellowship for the development of recombinant strains of Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) for the anti-tumor treatment of bladder cancer, a project for which he was a finalist for the Young Scientist Award in the Scientific Initiation category of the Institute's Scientific Meeting. In the same year (2017), he worked with the academic group of the University of São Paulo in the International Competition for Genetically Engaged Machines (iGEM), winning the Gold Medal in Boston - Massachusetts, USA. In 2020, he obtained the title of MSc in Biochemistry under the Fapesp fellowship to develop the project ?Application of Synthetic Biology in the construction of a genetic circuit to improve the anti-tumor effect of Salmonella spp.?, which included a sandwich period at the University of Toronto Mississauga to join the group of Synthetic Biology of Prof. David McMillen (2019). Additionally, during the master's degree, he contributed to conceive and organize the Advanced School in Syntehtic Biology Workshop of the Laboratory of Synthetic and Systemic Biology, both from the Ribeirão Preto Medical School (FMRP) (2019). He is currently a doctoral student at the Cell Therapy Center (CTC - CEPID) in the Blood Center of Ribeirão Preto, where he develops a project about cell immunotherapy using T-CAR and NK-CAR cells.
