Thiago Oliveira Carvalho
I graduated in Chemistry at the University of Brasília (UnB) in 2014. As an undergraduate student, I have the honor to start my scientific career on colloids, surfaces, and interfaces research QuiCSI group (Química de Colóides, Superfícies e Interfaces). I´ve been involved in the development of adsorbents from biomass wastes to remove contaminants from water. In this way, I published my first 3 papers, one of them in a renowned high impact Journal (Chemical Engineering Journal, IF=10.652 and a CiteScore of 15.2). Later in 2017, I published a paper in memory of Alexandre G.S. Prado, my supervisor as an under-graduated student.
In 2011, I?ve also started teaching Chemistry to high school students.
In 2015, I was awarded with a Master scholarship from CAPES (Brazilian Federal Government Agency) and started it at Laboratory of Medicinal and Technological Chemistry, UnB. Under the supervision of BAD Neto, I dived into ionic liquids application to perform biosensors by intracellular reactions. This journey resulted in a Patent Application (applied 2016 ? published 2018) and so, a Journal of Organic Chemistry paper in 2019. I became Master in Chemistry in 2017.
Recently, I have a master research position in Portugal within the FCT project CMILE (PTDC/CTM-CTM/30326/2017) led by I. Esteves and J. Esperança. I?m a team member of a research project funded to develop new carbon-based composites derived from metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and ionic liquids (ILs) for gas adsorption and separation applications.
Whether in older publications or more recent works, methods suitable for sustainable development are always the core of my goals.
I have experience in Chemistry, with emphasis on Sustainable Chemistry, Chemical Thermodynamics, Bioortoghonal Chemistry, Synthesis of Adsorbent Materials, Catalysis, Ionic Liquids. I have also a huge experience teaching High School Chemistry in educational institutions of Brasília, Brazil.
