Claudio Bettini

Claudio Bettini is full professor at the computer science department of the University of Milan, where he leads the EveryWare laboratory. He received his PhD in Computer Science from the University of Milan in 1993. He has been post-doc at IBM Research, NY, and, for more than a decade, an affiliate research professor at the Center for Secure Information Systems at George Mason University, VA. His research interests cover the areas of mobile and pervasive computing, data privacy, intelligent systems, and eHealth applications. On these topics he has published extensively in international conferences and scientific journals (From Google Scholar: h-index:41, i10index:86, citations: 7483). He has been playing major roles in the organization of international events in the Mobile and Pervasive Computing areas, among which TPC Chair of IEEE PERCOM 2013 (International Conference on Pervasive Computing and Communications), and general chair of IEEE UIC 2019, IEEE PERCOM 2017 and IEEE MDM 2013 (International Conference on Mobile Data Management). He is currently a member of the steering committee of IEEE PerCom and associate editor of the Pervasive and Mobile Computing Journal and previously editor of The VLDB Journal and of the IEEE Transactions on Knowledge and Data Engineering. In 2011 he founded EveryWare Technologies, a startup developing innovative mobile apps for privacy and assistive technologies. He has been PI and co-PI of several international research projects including 3 projects financed by US NSF and a bilateral strategic project financed by MAECI (Italian Ministry of foreign affairs). He is regularly reviewing projects for the EU Horizon program, Swiss NSF, and other international agencies. He is a member of the Italian CINI working group on Digital Health and a senior member of the IEEE Computer Society.
