He is a Research Fellow (Academic Level B) in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, The University of Western Australia. He holds a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Physics, a PhD in Sports Science and a Specialization in Sports Training from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG). He has training in ?Science and Technology Teaching? from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT-USA). He was post-doctoral resident at the Post-Graduate Program in Electrical Engineering at UFMG, in the MACSIN (Laboratory for Modeling, Analysis and Control of Non-Linear Systems) and is a collaborator of BioSix (Biomedical Signal Processing, Analysis and Simulation Group). Develop research on methods of time series analysis, (ii) synchronization of nonlinear network oscillators and (iii) on the dynamical systems approach to human motor behavior. He reviews for the scientific periodics Physics Letters A, International Journal of Modelling, Identification and Control, and the Journal of the Franklin Institute. He made the matrix formulation of the "Structured multivarate singular spectrum analysis" (SM-SSA).He also acted as a fencing coach, being the founder of the Sociedade Mineira de Esgrima, and receiving the title of Fencing Master by the Acadèmie d'Armes Internationale (Germany, 2011)
