Jorge Alberto Orellana Aragon

Graduated as a PhD in Economics (with emphasis in Development Economics) at PPGE/UFRGS, he also holds a master?s degree in economics (with emphasis in Applied Economics) at PPGE/UFRGS and a master?s degree in finance from FCEyE/URL. In addition to a postgraduate course in the Program of Higher Studies in Economics of the Central Bank taught by the Center for Monetary Studies of Latin America (CEMLA) and the Central Bank of Guatemala (BANGUAT) and another course on update of quantitative methods and economic theory taught by the Central Bank of Guatemala (BANGUAT). His research areas of concentration are open macroeconomics and international finance, regional and urban economics, and integration theory and international economic blocs. He has now begun to research the area of defense economics and the history of conservative and traditionalist thought. He has experience working as an analyst in marketing research, specifically in quantitative studies. He was a government employee of the National Treasure of the Republic of Guatemala (Superintendence of Tax Administration -SAT-) working in the area related to international trade and customs procedures that include the valuation and classification of goods according to the regulations of the World Trade Organization (WTO). Later he worked as an Economic Analyst at the Secretary of Strategic Analysis of the Presidency of the Republic of Guatemala (SAE). He currently works as Adjunct Professor of International Economics at ICEAC/FURG at the Santa Vitória do Palmar Campus, State of Rio Grande do Sul (RS).
