Umberto Leone Hryniewicz

Ph.D. in Mathematics at the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences (2008). Research experience in Mathematics, focusing on Geometry, Topology and Dynamical Systems, acting on the following subjects: Symplectic Geometry, Contact Geometry and Symplectic Dynamics. In the fall semester of 2011 was a member at the Institute for Advanced Study (IAS/Princeton). In January and February of 2014 visited again the Institute for Advanced Study. Shared the SBM Prize 2015 with Pedro A. S. Salomão. Recently was awarded the CAPES/Humboldt Fellowship for Experienced Researchers, visited the Floer Center of Geometry (Ruhr Universität Bochum) as a Humboldt Professor in 2016 and 2017. He was awarded the MCA Prize 2017 (Mathematical Congress of the Americas), and was invited as a speaker in the Geometry session of the ICM 2018 (International Congress of Mathematicians). Recently was awarded the von Neumann fellowship from the IAS/Princeton, where he will stay from September/2018 until April/2019.

Possui bacharelado em Matemática e mestrado em Matemática Aplicada pela Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, e doutorado em Matemática pelo Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences (2008). Atualmente é Professor Adjunto da Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, e no segundo semestre de 2011 esteve no Institute for Advanced Study (IAS/Princeton) como membro. Entre janeiro e fevereiro de 2014 visitou novamente o IAS. Dividiu o Prêmio SBM 2015 (Sociedade Brasileira de Matemática) com o professor Pedro A. S. Salomão da Universidade de São Paulo. Em 2016 foi contemplado com a bolsa CAPES/Humboldt de Pesquisador Experiente, e visitou o Floer Center of Geometry (Ruhr Univsersität Bochum) como Professor Humboldt de julho/2016 a janeiro/2017. Em 2017 foi agraciado com o MCA Prize (Mathematical Congress of the Americas) por contribuições e resultados em Dinâmica Simplética. Fez nova visita ao Floer Center of Geometry de outubro/2017 a fevereiro/2018. Foi contemplado com a von Neumann fellowship do IAS/Princeton, onde estará de setembro/2018 a abril/2019. Teve a distinção de ser convidado como palestrante na sessão de Geometria no ICM 2018 (International Congress of Mathematicians).
