Dr. Victor Aquino Gomes Correa

VICTOR AQUINO (Victor Aquino Gomes Correa, born Tupã Gomes Corrêa), 71 y.o., is a former Brazilian adman. Prior to 1987, working as author, director or film assembler in advertising campaigns he served clients, mainly in the music market, between Porto Alegre, Sao Paulo and Brasilia. PhD in Science, he also built a solid academic career at the Art and Communication School of the University of Sao Paulo, whose Dean he was from 1997 to 2001. Still active, he teaches about Aesthetic Adventure in Advertising, and Advertising as Literary Genre, subjects to which he wrote dozens of materials. From 1989 to 1990, he completed a post-doctoral research at the old Laboratoire d'Esthétique et Sciences de l'Art at the Université Paris I - (Panthéon-Sorbonne) under supervision of late professor François Molnar. In those years he also began a research project with Abraham Antoine Moles in Strasbourg, about Cités Cablés, which was descontinued in 1992, when professor Moles passed away. In 1998, he was visiting professor at the Graduate Program on Audiovisual Communication at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, where he teached about Advertising Movie in Brazil and Argentina. Invited to the United States Government Visitor Program, in 1999, he saw the incipient distance learning projects in several institutions, that were yet beginning. He has already advised 42 masters degrees and 23 doctorate projects, besides to be author over one hundred books, like essays, biographies, poetry, tales, novel, theatre and other. Among his works, there is a first and historic edition of Guia do Estudante (Student Guide) published in 1977 by the University of Sao Paulo. In 2015 he was cellebrated in the book Victor Aquino, Among Science and Fiction, whith chapters written by authors from Brazil, United States, Spain, France and Italy. In 2016 he received from the City Council of Sao Paulo the honorary title of Cidadao Paulistano (Citizen of the City of Sao Paulo).
