Norah Costa Gamarra

Latin American, natural from Alagoas (Northeast of Brazil), with Bolivian origins, she carries from the culture of her ancestors the charm for peoples and communities that have knowledge and traditional practices. Biologist, and PhD in Biological Sciences, with an emphasis on Biodiversity and Conservation. She has experience in the socio-environmental area, with research and conservation projects, acting with local development and social well-being, with traditional communities and local populations - with a special focus on artisanal fisheries and protected areas, climate change, gender and territorial justice. Currently she has a scholarship at the NGI Costa dos Corais (ICMBio), within the scope of the GEF Prospecies Project, and works in the third sector as Scientific Director of the Ayni Institute for Environmental Conservation and Social Development, and as advisor for socio-environmental projects at the Juruá Institute. She is also a partner of the Coletivo Guerreiras Curí-Croá (of Geripankó indigenous women), and has experience in higher and children's education, and with Environmental Education and Scientific Communication.

Latina americana, natural de Alagoas e com origem também Boliviana, carrega da cultura de seus ancestrais o encanto pelos povos e comunidades detentoras de conhecimento e práticas tradicionais. É formada pela Universidade Federal de Alagoas (UFAL) como Bacharel em Biologia, é Mestra e Doutora em Ciências Biológicas, com ênfase em Biodiversidade e Conservação, pela mesma instituição. Possui experiência na área socioambiental, com pesquisas e projetos de conservação, desenvolvimento local e bem-estar social, com comunidades tradicionais e populações locais - com foco especial em pesca artesanal e áreas protegidas, mudanças climáticas, justiça de gênero e territorial. Atualmente é bolsista no NGI Costa dos Corais, no âmbito do Projeto GEF Pró espécies, e atua no terceiro setor como Diretora Científica do Instituto Ayni de Conservação Ambiental e Desenvolvimento Social, e na assessoria de projetos socioambientais do Instituto Juruá. É também colaboradora do Coletivo Guerreiras Curí-Croá (de Mulheres indígenas Geripankó, do Sertão de Alagoas), e possui experiência no ensino superior e infantil, e na área de Educação Ambiental e Comunicação científica.
