Braz de Jesus Cardoso Filho

Braz de Jesus Cardoso Filho (IEEE member) was born in Brazil in 1965. He received the B.S. (Gold Medal ? Lucio dos Santos Award) and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering from the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG), Belo Horizonte, Brazil, in 1987 and 1991, respectively. He received his Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA, in 1998. Since 1989 he holds a faculty position at the Dept of Electrical Engineering of the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, Brazil. Dr. Cardoso is the founder of the Tesla Power Engineering Lab (formerly Industry Applications Lab) of the UFMG, Brazil. He has authored and co-authored over 200 technical papers in the field of power electronics and 9 patents. His current research interests include power semiconductor devices, high performance power converters, reliability, electric drives, vehicle electrification, renewable energy and power quality.

Possui graduação em Engenharia Elétrica pela Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (1987), mestrado em Engenharia Elétrica pela Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (1991) e doutorado em Electrical Engineering - University of Wisconsin - Madison (1998). Atualmente é Professor Titular do Depto. Engenharia Elétrica da Escola de Engenharia da Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais. , atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: conversores estáticos polifásicos em baixa e média tensão, dispositivos semicondutores de potência, máquinas e acionamento elétricos, eletrificação veicular e qualidade da energia.
