Drª Juliana de Freitas Astúa

Possui graduação em Engenharia Agronômica pela Universidade de São Paulo (USP, 1993), mestrado em Fitopatologia pela USP (1996), doutorado em Plant Virology - University of Florida (2001) e pós-doutorado pela USP (2002). É pesquisadora A da Empresa Brasileira de Pesquisa Agropecuária desde 2002, atuando em colaboração com a Agência Paulista de Tecnologia dos Agronegócios (APTA). É supervisora de pós-doutores, orientadora de estudantes de graduação e pós-graduação e coordenou um projeto de Atração de Jovens Talentos do CNPq (pesquisador visitante). É editora associada das revistas Plant Pathology, Annals of Applied Biology e Tropical Plant Pathology, e editora-convidada das revistas Frontiers in Plant Science e Frontiers in Microbiology. É co-presidente do grupo de estudos (Study Group/ SG) da família Rhabdoviridae do International Committee on Taxonomy of Viruses (ICTV) (2020-2023), sendo membro deste SG desde 2018. Foi presidente do Cilevirus SG para o período de 2011 a 2014 e continua membro deste SG (agora denominado família Kitaviridae SG desde 2015). Foi presidente da International Organization of Citrus Virologists (IOCV) para o período de 2013 a 2016, e ainda atua no Conselho (Advisory council) desta Organização (2016-2019, 2019-2023). Foi participante do Project 111 e professora visitante da Southwest University em Chongqing, China (2018 a 2022). É membro do Painel Internacional para elaboração de protocolos para o diagnóstico da leprose dos citros para o International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC/FAO) (vigência 2020-2023). É presidente da Sociedade Brasileira de Fitopatologia (SBF, 2021-2025). Tem experiência na área de Fitossanidade, com ênfase em interação planta-patógeno-vetor. Atua principalmente nos seguintes temas: fitovirologia, leprose dos citros, vírus transmitido por ácaros Brevipalpus, HLB ou greening dos citros, transcriptômica e genômica funcional. Associate editor of the journals Plant Pathology, Annals of Applied Biology, and Tropical Plant Pathology, and guest editor of the journals Frontiers in Plant Science and Frontiers in Microbiology. Co-chairperson of the family Rhabdoviridae Study Group (SG) of the International Committee on Taxonomy of Viruses (ICTV) (2020-2023), and member of this SG since 2018. Chairperson of genus Cilevirus SG for the period 2011-2014 and still a member of this SG (now called family Kitaviridae SG) since 2015. Chairperson of the International Organization of Citrus Virologists (IOCV) for the period from 2013 to 2016, and still serves on the Advisory Council of this Organization (2016-2019, 2019-2023). Project 111 member and visiting professor at Southwest University in Chongqing, China (2018-2022). Member of the International Panel for the elaboration of protocols for the diagnosis of citrus leprosis for the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC/FAO) (effective 2020-2023). President-elect of the Brazilian Society of Phytopathology (SBF, 2021-2025). My primarily interests involve the following topics: plant-pathogen-vector interactions, plant viruses, citrus leprosis, viruses transmitted by Brevipalpus mites, HLB or citrus greening, transcriptomics, and functional genomics.
