Sabrina Thaise Amorim

I?m an Animal Scientist, MSc in Genetics and Animal Breeding, and currently a Ph.D. Student in the Animal and Poultry Sciences Department at Virginia Tech. My research interest include quantitative genetic and image analyses of high-throughput phenotyping data. My overarching research interest is to understand the genotype-phenotype map in livestock species using bioinformatics, statistical genetics, and functional genomics. I?m interested in better understanding the genetic architecture of economically important traits, and also apply and develop statistical methods for prediction in the multi-omics era. From 2015 to 2018 I was part of the Khan Academy in Portuguese Project, producing more than 200 video-classes in Biochemistry, Chemistry, and Biology. (less)

Possui graduação em Zootecnia pela Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina e Mestrado em Genética e Melhoramento Animal pela Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho (FCAV/UNESP), com período sanduíche como Pesquisadora Visitante na Virginia Tech, sob supervisão do Prof. Dr. Gota Morota. Atualmente é estudante de PhD em Animal Sciences, com ênfase em Phenomics e Computer Vision na Virginia Tech, sob orientação do Prof. Dr. Gota Morota. É bolsita no programa "Graduate Teaching Scholar Program (GTS)" do College of Agriculture and Life Sciences da mesma instituição. Tesoureira e Secretária da organização estudantil Center for Advanced Innovation in Agriculture (CAIA) Graduate Students Affiliates. Durante a graduação foi monitora da disciplina ''Genética Aplicada a Zootecnia'' no período de 2015.2 a 2016.2 na Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC). Bolsista de Iniciação Científica e Integrante do Grupo de Pesquisa em Produção Animal da Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina até o ano de 2017. Foi Professora no curso de Especialização em nível de Pós-graduação lato sensu em Melhoramento Genético de Gado de Corte da FAZU-Uberaba de 2020 a 2022. Participou do processo de dublagem, tradução, e produção de vídeo-aulas do projeto Khan Academy Brasil nas áreas de Biologia e Química de 2015 até fevereiro de 2018. (less)
