He held a post-doctorate at the École Nationale des Travaux Publics de L'État (Université de Lyon) in 2015. He completed his doctorate at the Graduate Program in Civil Engineering at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul in 2004. He was an assistant professor, associate and adjunct at UNIJUI - Regional University of the Northwest of the State of Rio Grande do Sul in Ijuí - RS, working in the Civil Engineering course and in the Master in Mathematical Modeling from 2001 to 2011. He is currently an associate professor at UFSM - Federal University of Santa Maria, working in the Civil Engineering course and in the Graduate Program in Civil Engineering (Master's and Doctorate) (as Coordinator between 2019 and 2021), as well as professor at the PPGEC at UFRGS. CNPq Research Productivity Fellow (Level 2 - 2012-2019 and Level 1D - 2019-2027); implemented and was Tutor of the PET group of Civil Engineering at UNIJUI (2006-2011) and UFSM (2012-2014). He has supervised 5 PhDs, 44 Masters and 73 TCCs. He has experience in Civil Engineering, with an emphasis on Paving, Geotechnics and Transport, working mainly on the following topics: flexible pavements, transport infrastructure, paving materials, asphalt concrete and the environment. He is a partner of ABPv, ABMS and ANPET. He has published more than 100 articles in specialized journals and more than 350 papers in event annals. Between 2003 and 2021, he received 18 awards, including the Jaques de Medina Award from the Brazilian Institute of Oil and Gas for his doctoral thesis. He has participated in more than 100 scientific events in recent years. He has already guided several students in scientific initiation, master's and doctorate; he is a member of the scientific committee of ABPv, ANPET and ABMS, in addition to being a member of the INEP / MEC evaluators, an AdHoc consultant for MEC, CAPES and CNPq and a reviewer for numerous national and international journals. He is a full member of the Asphalt Commission of the Brazilian Institute of Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels and associate editor of Road Materials and Pavement Design.

Recebeu entre 2003 e 2021, 18 prêmios, dentre eles o Prêmio Jaques de Medina do Instituto Brasileiro de Petróleo e Gás pela sua tese de doutorado. Participou de mais de 100 eventos científicos nos últimos anos. Já orientou diversos alunos em iniciação cientifica, mestrado e doutorado; é membro do comitê cientifico da ABPv, ANPET e ABMS além de ser membro do corpo de avaliadores do INEP/MEC, consultor AdHoc do MEC, da CAPES e do CNPq e revisor de inúmeros periódicos nacionais e internacionais. É membro titular da Comissão de Asfalto do Instituto Brasileiro de Petróleo, Gás e Biocombustíveis e editor associado da Road Materials and Pavement Design..
