José Fernando Peixoto de Azevedo

Graduated and PhD in Philosophy- Philosophy Department of Faculty of Philosophy, Letters, and Human Sciences of the University of São Paulo- where defended his thesis on Bertolt Brecht theater . Researcher on history and aesthetics of Brazilian theater and black theater, contemporary theatrical aesthetics, as well as aesthetics and contemporary philosophy. Professor of Dramaturgy and History Studies of the Brazilian Theater, Text and Scene Analysis (Theater Theories) and Assembly Workshops at the School of Dramatic Art-EAD of the School of Communications and Arts of USP. He is a playwright, theater and film director. Founder, playwright and director of the 'Teatro de Narradores' (1997-2017) and a collaborator in the black theater group 'Os Crespos', as well as other theatrical collectives. Acts also as a curator.

Possui graduação e doutorado em Filosofia, pelo Departamento de Filosofia da Faculdade de Filosofia Letras e Ciências Humanas da Universidade de São Paulo-USP, onde defendeu tese sobre o teatro do dramaturgo alemão Bertolt Brecht. Atua como pesquisador nas áreas de história e estética do teatro brasileiro e do teatro negro, estética teatral contemporânea, além de estética e filosofia contemporâneas. É professor de Estudos de Dramaturgia e História do Teatro Brasileiro, Análise do texto e da cena (teorias do teatro) e Oficinas de Montagem na Escola de Arte Dramática-EAD da Escola de Comunicações e Artes da USP. É professor-orientador no Programa de Artes Cênicas (PPGAC) da ECA-USP, na área de Práticas e Teorias do Teatro. É dramaturgo, diretor de teatro e cinema.
