Erika Grasiela Marques de Menezes Barbosa

Assistant Adjunct Professor in the Department of Laboratory Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco, and Staff Scientist at Vitalant Research Institute. I have extensive experience in the fast-growing field of extracellular vesicles and HIV pathogenesis, including expertise in measuring extracellular vesicles using the light-scatter sensitivity of the flow cytometry as well as NanoString nCounter profiling to measure extracellular vesicle cargo. My research interests focus on the molecular mechanisms of HIV associated comorbidities, with special emphasis on functional consequences of extracellular vesicles linked to cardiovascular disease and neurocognitive disorder. A second area of interest has been defining how extracellular vesicles and their cargo within stored platelet products affect immune responses and vascular activity in transfusion recipients.
graduation at NUTRIÇÃO from Centro Universitário Central Paulista (2007), master's at Science and Technology of the Food from Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho (2013) and doctorate at Science and Technology of the Food from Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho (2017). He is currently adjunct assistant professor at University of California, San Francisco and staff scientist at Blood Systems Research Institute. Has experience in Immunology, acting on the following subjects: hiv, hiv, tarv, selênio, art, metabolismo ósseo and proinflammatory cytokines.
