Leonardo Didier Coelho

Leonardo Didier Coelho graduou-se em Engenharia Elétrica em 2003 pela Universidade Federal de Pernambuco. Em 2005 e 2010 recebeu o titulo de mestre e doutor, respectivamente, pela Technische Universität München, Munique, Alemanha. Durante a sua tese de mestrado e doutorado, ele realizou diversas pesquisas sobre modelagem, simulação e otimização de sistemas de comunicação óptica. Em 2006 e 2007 ele trabalhou com ruído não-linear de fase em sistemas de comunicação óptica no Fraunhofer Heinrich-Hertz-Institut, em Berlim, Alemanha. Ele passou o três meses em 2009 no Departamento de Engenharia Fotônica, Technical University of Denmark, Dinamarca, como pesquisador visitante trabalhando com amplificadores paramétricos de fibra óptica. De 2011 a 2014, ele trabalhou na Infinera (anteriormente parte da Nokia Siemens Networks e Coriant R&D GmbH), em Munique, na Alemanha. Atualmente é Professor do Departamento de Eletrônica e Sistemas da Universidade Federal de Pernambuco. Seus principais interesses incluem optimização de sistemas de comunicação óptica, amplificação óptica, fotônica integrada, alimentação elétrica por fibra óptica e sistemas de gerenciamento de baterias. Dr. Coelho recebeu o prêmio da Bund der Freunde der TU München pela melhor Tese de Doutorado em Engenharia Elétrica em 2011.

Leonardo Didier Coelho received the B.Sc. degree in electrical engineering in 2003 from the Universidade Federal de Pernambuco, Recife, Brazil, and the M.Sc. and Dr.-Ing. degrees in 2005 and 2010, respectively, both from the Technische Universität München, Munich, Germany. In his Master?s Thesis and Doctoral Dissertation he conducted research on modeling, simulation, and optimization of optical communication systems using advanced modulation formats. In 2006 and 2007, he worked on nonlinear phase noise in optical communication systems at the Fraunhofer Heinrich-Hertz-Institut in Berlin, Germany. He spent the summer of 2009 at the Department of Photonics Engineering, Technical University of Denmark, as a Visiting Researcher working on fiber-based optical parametric amplifiers. From 2011 to 2014, he was with Infinera (formerly part of Nokia Siemens Networks and Coriant R&D GmbH) in Munich, Germany. He is currently Professor at the Department of Electronics and Systems at Universidade Federal de Pernambuco. His main interests include optimization of optical communication systems, optical amplification, integrated photonics, power-over-fiber and battery management systems. Dr. Coelho received the Bund der Freunde der TU München Award for Outstanding Doctoral Thesis in electrical engineering in 2011.
