PAULO BAYARD DIAS GONÇALVES

I have a DVM degree with MSc and PhD in Biology of Reproduction. My PhD degree was obtained at University of Illinois, Department of Animal Sciences, in 1992. In 2008-2009, I spent a year sabbatical at National Institutes of Health. I was a research fellow in a Research Institute for 12 years and associate and full professor at Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM) for 25 years. In 2018, I was hired by Federal University of Pampa (UNIPAMPA). I have received Grants as a Research Fellow of National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) since 1984. I was a member of the Editorial Committee of Journal Ciência Rural during 12 years, scientific director of the Brazilian Society of Embryo Technology (SBTE) for 5 years and vice-president of SBTE. I am a consultant of Brazilian research agencies FAPESP, CAPES, CNPq, FAPEMIG and FINEP. I am reviewer of international journals (Reproduction, Theriogenology, Reproduction in Domestic Animals, Livestock Science, Reproduction Fertility and Development and others) and national journals Brazilian Journal of Veterinary Research and Animal Science, PAB, Ciência Rural and others.). IETS scientific reviewer during three events held in Brazil. Representative of the Society for the Study of Reproduction (SSR) in South America for four years. I was the Dean of the Graduate School of Veterinary Medicine from 1998 to 2003, Vice-Chancellor for Research and Graduate Education from 2006 to 2008 and Vice-President of the Federal University of Santa Maria from 2013 to 2017.

Possui graduação em Medicina Veterinária pela Universidade da Região da Campanha (1980), mestrado em Ciências Veterinárias pela Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (1983), doutorado em Fisiologia da Reprodução pela Universidade de Illinois (1992) e pós-doutorado no National Institutes of Health (NIH, 2009). Exerceu a função de Professor Adjunto no período de 1993 a 1997 e de Professor Titular de 1997 a 2018 na UFSM. Foi membro da Comissão Editorial da Revista Ciência Rural durante 12 anos e Membro do CA-VT do CNPq durante 3 anos. Foi diretor científico da Sociedade Brasileira de Tecnologia de Embriões (SBTE) durante 5 anos e vice-presidente da SBTE. Participou como consultor da FAPESP, CAPES, CNPq, FAPEMIG e FINEP, consultor de periódicos internacionais (Reproduction, Theriogenology, Animal Reproduction Science, Reproduction in Domestic Animals, Livestock Science e Reproduction Fertility and Development) e nacionais (Ciência Rural, Brazilian Journal of Veterinary Research and Animal Science, PAB e outros). Consultor científico da IETS durante três eventos realizados no Brasil. Representante da Society for the Study of Reproduction (SSR) na América do Sul durante quatro anos. Desempenhou a função de Coordenador do PPG em Medicina Veterinária, Coordenador de Pós-graduação na Pró-reitoria de Pós-graduação e Pesquisa, Pró-reitor Adjunto de Pós-graduação e Pesquisa, Pró-reitor de Pós-graduação e Pesquisa e Vice-Reitor da Universidade Federal de Santa Maria. É bolsista de produtividade do CNPq desde 1984. Atualmente, exerce como Professor Titular-Livre na Universidade Federal do Pampa (Unipampa).
