Ricardo Jorge Silvério de Magalhães Machado

Ricardo J. Machado is a full professor of Information Systems Engineering and Technology in the Dept. of Information Systems at the University of Minho, School of Engineering. His primary research interests are in modelling and requirements for systems analysis and design and in process and project management life-cycles. He has supervised 10 completed PhD theses in these areas. He has published over 150 scientific publications and 4 industrial patents, and has acted as coordinator (PI) and senior researcher of over 50 R&D projects. Some of these projects are related to the Digital Transformation of the Society in the Industry 4.0 and Smart Cities contexts. Currently, he is the director of the ALGORITMI Research Centre, the scientific coordinator of the EPMQ Laboratory at the CCG/ZGDV Institute, and the director of the Doctoral Program in Advanced Engineering Systems for Industry. He is also president of the National Council of the Informatics Engineering Society at the Portuguese Engineers Association, chairman of the General Assembly of the ICT Portuguese Cluster (TICE.pt), member of the General Assembly of the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP), member of both the Board and the Steering Committee of the NESSI (Networked European Software and Services Initiative) European Technological Platform (ETP), and member of the Steering Committee of the international conference series on Software Business (ICSOB) - Springer. In 2009, he received the IEEE MGA Achievement Award. In 2015, Springer nominated his book on "Requirements in Engineering Projects" for the 2016 TAA Textbook Award. Ricardo J. Machado é professor catedrático de Engenharia e Tecnologias dos Sistemas de Informação no Dept. de Sistemas de Informação da Escola de Engenharia da Universidade do Minho. Os seus principais interesses de investigação são em modelação e requisitos na análise e concepção de sistemas e na gestão do ciclo de vida de projectos e processos. Orientou 10 teses de doutoramento concluídas nessas áreas. Publicou mais de 150 artigos científicos e 4 patentes industriais e participou como coordenador (IR) e investigador sénior em mais de 50 projectos de I&DT. Alguns destes projectos estão relacionados com a problemática da Transformação Digital da Sociedade nos contextos da Indústria 4.0 e das Cidades Inteligentes. Atualmente, é diretor do Centro de Investigação ALGORITMI, coordenador científico do Laboratório EPMQ no Instituto CCG/ZGDV e diretor do Programa Doutoral em Sistemas Avançados de Engenharia para a Indústria. É também presidente do Conselho Nacional do Colégio de Engenharia Informática da Ordem dos Engenheiros Portugueses, presidente da Assembleia Geral do Cluster Português das TICE (TICE.pt), membro da Assembleia Geral da International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP), membro do Board e do Steering Committee da Plataforma Tecnológica Europeia NESSI (Networked European Software and Services Initiative) e membro do Steering Committee da série de conferências internacionais ICSOB (International Conferences on Software Business - Springer). Em 2009, recebeu o prémio IEEE MGA Achievement Award. Em 2015, o seu livro "Requirements in Engineering Projects" foi nomeado pela Springer para o prémio 2016 TAA Textbook Award.
