Mariana Cavalcanti Albuquerque

Mariana Albuquerque is a PhD student in sociology at the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE). Her research focuses on the development of the phenomenon "Life coaching" and its intersections with the rise of neoliberalism and neoconservatism in Brazil. She holds as well a BA in Social Sciences and a Master Degree in Sociology of the UFPE. During her graduation she participated in an exchange program with the Universidad de Salamanca (USAL). Her master thesis was selected as a work of excellence for publication as book within the "Série Sociologia" under the title "Subject of many faces. A study on Latin American identity following the conceptions of Manoel Bomfim and Octavio Paz in the light of the decolonial debate". Linked to the Nucleus on Epistemologies of the Global South (NESG) and the Blog Labemus, she also works as an editor of the Journal "Praça" for graduate students in sociology at the UFPE. Her research interests cover the areas of Latin American Sociology, Post-colonial Studies, Identities, Political Sociology, Studies on Subjectivities, Sociology of Literature and Sociology of Emotions.

Mariana Albuquerque é doutoranda em Sociologia pela Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (UFPE). Sua pesquisa se concentra no desenvolvimento do fenômeno do "Life coaching" e suas intersecções com o crescimento do neoliberalismo e do neoconservadorismo no Brasil. Também possui bacharelado em Ciências Sociais e mestrado em Sociologia pela UFPE. Durante a graduação realizou um intercâmbio na Universidad de Salamanca (USAL). Sua tese de mestrado foi selecionado como trabalho de excelência para publicação em livro pela Série Sociologia sob o título "Sujeito de muitas faces. Um estudo sobre identidade latino-americana nas concepções de Manoel Bomfim e Octavio Paz à luz do debate decolonial". Vinculada ao Núcleo sobre Epistemologias do Sul Global (NESG) e o Blog do Labemus, participa também como editora da Revista Praça de discentes da pós-graduação em sociologia da UFPE. Seu interesse de pesquisa abrange as áreas da Sociologia da América Latina, estudos pós-coloniais, identidades, Sociologia Política, Estudos sobre subjetividades, Sociologia da Literatura e Sociologia das Emoções.
